1st (or 2nd) one going up there in the rafters is 'Zo.

After that, we can talk.

I know he's number 6, but we'd have to retire number 2.

The only #32 we're retiring is Harold Miner

He brought us not 1, but 2 Dunk Contest Championships...Shaq gets his number retired for one title? Come on...

How can you NOT retire Shaqs number? He promised a championship and brought a championship...the first for the franchise.

For sure:
Zo
Shaq

He was here 3 years. Are we going to retire Antoine Walker's jersey too?

It will be an interesting call. The only reason the Heat hasn't involved Timmy in the 20 year stuff for the most part (he was on the TV shows, but didn't have a night and his jersey wasn't part of the retros, which is insane) and mentioned him as being retired is because he got Riley angry at him for calling him out repeatedly. Riley even once mentioned hanging Timmy's # in the rafters before they got angry with each other and Timmy IMO definitely deserves it. He was the key to our playoff run to the ECF in 06-07, when he was all NBA.

But now we hear all the reports surfacing of the fight betweenRiley and Shaq and how nasty it got. We heard Zo had to restrain Shaq. I heard persoanally from a friend who knows Shaq that Riley dismissed him from the practice court because he told him players who aren't really injured don;t get to stay at practice which lead to a lot of F Yous back and forth. So even though they have said the right things about mutual respect and appreciation, you have to wonder if Riley will mute the enthusiasm and not push for a jersey retired. That said, I feel that eventually the NBA will retire 23 overall the way MLB did for Jackie Robinson, and it is posssible they would do the same for Shaq, but probably not (especially since he wore 32 and 34). But if any team should retire his jersey it should eb the Lakers, even if (escpeically if) he wins one with the suns.
