I haven't really seen the last few games, can anyone sum up his play?

Undersized PF, very much a hustle player. He has a decent jumper from the elbow range, and has shown some strong finishes inside. Good rebounder. Solid strength. Not great on defense, partly due to being undersized on most matchups, causing almost consistant foul trouble. Not as talented as Brian Grant, but that's the player that first came to mind as far as a Heat comparison. I know that Fiorentino and Reid have raved about his play in practice, this guy was a 1st rd pick only a few years ago. Of all the guys we have on our bench that are "playing" for a future here, AJ has been the only one to really take advantage of the opportunity. If he continues this play, he's made a strong case to be our backup 4 next year.

I agree I think he could definately play his way to our backup 4 spot.

unless we get Beasley and make UD the backup 4.

Despite his play, realistically this could happen.

I could be mistaken but I seem to remember Johnson slipping to the second round in a bit of a surprise. He was projected to go in the low 20s of the first round.

Yea I was wrong. I could've swore he was a 1st rounder to Memphis, but he went 45th overall to Indiana in the 06 draft, who then traded him to Memphis.

I remember that was one of the shockers that year because most mock drafts had him about 20 picks either. kind of what happened to Derrick Byars (and Gray to a lesser extent) this year.

He's looked UD like in the last couple of games.

I agree with the UD comparison. Defense isn't as good as UD's, but offesively may be better.

Plus he's bigger and more atheletic. If he keeps improving the way he has been (and keep in mind he's only a 2nd year player despite being 25 tomorrow) he could make the frontcourt situation a little more interesting.

It's even easier now to see why he was kept over Chase, Slaughter and Richardson.

Reminds me of young Clarence Weatherspoon.
