Interesting comments from press conference:

Will be exciting to play with an unselfish team.

Look forward to being a big brother to Amare.

I love to run. Last few years in a system that didn;t run.

Miami is still going to have trouble with us (D'Antoni said this).

I'm very upset. when I'm upset, I'm knowwn to win championship. I have cable, I have ESPN. I watch guys like Mike Wilbon.

Look forward to $200M 10 year extension (as a joke).

Been a fan of Nash ever since he beat him for MVP two years in a row.

I'm the Assistant Vice General Manager of this team (joke).

Thanks for bringing me to the land of shooters. every championship team has always had one or two dangerous shooters.

Looking forward to medical staff here. Grant said they were good.

When heard about practices here, was a smile on my face.

Last year and a half in Miami doesn't take away from championship.

Did not forsee being traded. But everything happens for a reason. Had a lot of great times in Miami, but this is a great situation for me.

Looking for championships 5-6.

Kerr said he'd settle for 5. Pussy.

Not oing to compare talent to Miami championship team.

Bringing joy by sating on D'Antoni's good side.

The day he got call re trade, he was pleased. He NEEDS #s5 and 6.

First he heard was his agent calling him after Drs office.

Leave things with Riley on professional standpoint. Don't take anything personal. Helped him get a champonship. Nothing but respect for Arison family. Arison one of the best owners.

Not prepared to guarantee 5 yet. He'll let them know.

Shaq held up his jersey - #32.

Other thoughts.
D'Antoni talks like a pussy.
Would it kill Kerr or D'Antoni to wear a tie? At least Kerr wore a jacket. What a difference with our press conference. I realize this is mid-season, but this seemed low budget.

Kerr said hopefully Shaq will get 5 titles for the Phoenix Suns which was ofcourse a joke.

Yeah, I like that Shaq complimented the Heat organization and everything seems to be on good terms. He knows that Riley actually did him a favor by trading him from the worst team in the league to a championship contender.

I'm rooting for him and wish him the best. I actually got kind of sad during that and didn't expect to. :O I'll actually miss him and I think the players will miss his locker room presence.

Shaq said he wanted to get rings 5 and 6.

Kerr stopped him and said he'd be happy with just 5.

Meaning, he'd be happy if Shaq brings them just ONE title while he's there.

Yeah I was about to ask that, I doubt nba.com cares enough to give a streaming feed of the Marion/Banks press conference though. Maybe ESPNEWS will have it.

I doubt we'd do a press conference in Philly, so don't expect it til we return to Miami. Those guys have to report by Friday, so expect it tomorrow or Saturday.

I am happy he spoke good of the heat. Kerr and DA are relaxed, laid back guys, and that is how they opperate. Funny how it seemed low budget......its a freakn press confrence. the suns are one of the most valuble orgnizations in the nba.

Good luck with marion and banks. I think this will be good for your team and for the future. Hopefully, Shaq can bring a ring to the valley of the sun. Good luck guys.

I always liked Shaq off the court, but I was never a fan of Shaq on the court until he was with us in Miami. I always loved Zo and his work ethic/defense more than Shaq's size and natural talent.

I will be rooting against Shaq again now that he's gone. I hope he returns to Miami once he retires though, he is a cool person. He has enough rings, no reason to cheer him on more than Garnett or others that deserve one.

Also, hopefully Shaq works harder, he needs to be much than he was for us the last 2 years if Phx wants a title.

I actually can't believe anyone would believe in Shaq this much after the way he has played this season. I think Shaq must have told them that he was holding back and just waiting for a trade and that now he will turn on the "GO" button.

I forget what the exact context or what the question was that he was answering to, but I found this quote interesting

"It is not about scoring, it is not about the flash ..."

Anyone else catch that ??

Everything is always hugs and kisses when Shaq first arrives somewhere. Eventually he got sick of Penny and wanted out in Orlando, got sick of Kobe and wanted out of LA, and got sick of Riley and wanted out in Miami. I don't expect him to ever ask for a trade out of Phoenix simply because of his age, but lets see how he sounds if they struggle or if he gets injured.

I like Shaq. I think he brings a sense of humor and joy to a league that is lacking severely in both categories. However, Shaq has never been known to handle adversity well, and his tendency to dog it when he or his team is struggling is not very admirable. I wouldn't be surprised if he helps them get a title this year. We saw in spurts earlier this year what he can still do when motivated. When we traded for Shaq, we realisticaly had a 3-4 year window to compete at a championship level. That window for the Suns is even smaller, perhaps 1-2 years. Obviously they felt, much like we did, that it was worth the risk to chase the ring. Personally, I will be rooting for them to win it all. At the very least I would like to see a Lakers vs. Suns Western Conference Final. I am sure that David Stern is rooting for the same thing.

Return to Miami Heat
