"Once upon a time, a trade rumor had Miller and Hakim Warrick in a larger deal that would have essentially netted the Grizzlies Lamar Odom of the Los Angeles Lakers. Another speculative trade involves Miller for Miami's Ricky Davis and his expiring $6.8 million contract."

SO... I think this would be a good move for you guys going into the future if you could nab Beasley in the Draft.

Wade-Superstar
Miller-Shooter/all-around talent
Marion-All-around talent/ good rebounder
Beasley-IDK in the NBA but probably very good scorer and rebounder
MLE C- a guy to do the dirty work and get some Off. Reb and putbacks.

Lookin good for you guys next year if this can work

Like I said I think its a good move, and I hope it can go through. Next year I will have to root for the Heat because Wade is my Favorite player (coming from Chicago), I dont see the Bulls competitive for at least 2 more years, and I hope Wade can get some more hardware soon.

Although the other side of me says I want the Heat to suck so the Bulls could have the 3% chance of landing him in free agency in 2 yrs.

I wouldn't mind adding Miller but the only issue is Wade at PG full time. He's essentially our full time ball handler now but he gets turnover prone in that role. I would like to see us have a true PG in the starting 5 with Wade at his natural position. If we keep Marion (unless Riley plans on playing him at the 4) that leaves Miller as a 6th man off the bench.. or Wade at PG full time. At any rate, Miller is the better player and if we can make the move it would improve the team.

Well you guys should be in position in the Draft hopefully to get a PG too.

Rose
Wade
Marion
Haslem
C

6th Miller

Still looks good to me.

Oh definately, Miller could be the best 6th man in the league in that scenario but is that something he would accept? Also, trading Davis' contract for another that doesn't expire and keeping Marion means another season well into luxury tax land... is that something that Arison would accept? I'm not sure yes is the answer to either... but I think if left up to the fans, most of us would welcome a Miller for Davis swap.

I don't know that Miller is THAT much better than Davis to have to send Memphis DQ as well. We are giving them a similar production player that expires a year before Miller. Why would we have to give up one of our young players as well? On the extreme I would only give them one of our 2nd rounders next year just to make the move, other than that, I'll let Ricky come off OUR books.

Disclaimer: I do want Miller in Miami more than I want Davis.

I think Miller would accept because he would get mostly all minutes behind Wade and Marion. Something like 24-28 minutes a game. And in some situations, I'm sure Wade could slide to the PG slot and Miller could get even more minutes bringin him close to 30 a night. In some situations Marion could probably switch to PF also so i'm sure the minutes would't be a problem.

I'm not sure about the financial situation though.

The OP only mentions Miller for Davis. I'm not sure that DQ would be necessary. Memphis is only looking for cap relief right now it seems. So I think Davis and a 2nd rounder would probably work.

What you guys aren't realizing is that if we add Mike Miller we will NOT have anywhere near max cap space even if Marion opts out and leaves. So signing Brand would not be possible.

We would have just $6 million this upcoming offseason if we trade for Mike Miller, Marion opts out and is renounced and Dorell, Zo, J-Will, Quinn, etc., are all renounced. That's about the same as the MLE, so we'd have no more room than every other team in the NBA, and that's with us LOSING Marion.

We would have just $9 mill to $10 mill in the 2009 offseason if we added Mike Miller, Marion becomes a free agent and is renounced, and we don't add ANYONE to our cap situation between now and then. That means no Dorell extension, no adding someone for the MLE or LLE this offseason unless it's a 1-year deal, etc. And again, $9 mill is nowhere close to enough to get a Brand or Arenas or anyone of that ilk -- they're both looking at around $15 million/year starting. Keep in mind, we'd have to renounce our rights to Marion just to have that $9 million, which would be pointless -- might as well just resign him, thus keeping the same team of Wade/Miller/Marion.

Bottom line is, if we trade an expiring for Miller, there is no chance of adding an impact player (liek Brand) via free agency until Wade opts out and Haslem/Blount/Miller expire a couple offseasons from now. And at that point, wouldn't you say it's too late?

Look at the money he's making, and tell me if that's worth paying someone who'll be a backup wingman on your team.

I'd rather continue to develop Daeqaun and Dorell....

I love Miller but this just isn't the right time to get him, he plays a position that we're fine at right now. Our priorities are fixing up the PG/C positions. I want us to get cap space for Ricky's expiring 7 mil too.

I'm pretty much done with the development of Dorrell Wright. His potential is getting tired.

He's getting better and better with each passing game.

nice..... but id rather push for brand and then draft a pg like rose, and den use part of mle on jamaal maglorie or trade for brand by dumping an expiring wen he threatens to opt out. then trade haslem and blount for expirings.... den draft beasley, 1st pick second round get a pg. and then use part mle on dooling, and maglorie.... have this rotation

dooling the 1st 2nd rd pick
wade cook
marion wright
brand beasley
maglorie zo

Wright is still young. He is not even close to a finished product.

we need to play Marion @ PF.

Trade Haslem for a defensive Center ..not sure who...maybe a mid 1st rounder and draft Thabeet. Or JO?

I dont know, all i want is a good defensive team and a rebounding team..thats enough for Wade to carry them.

I hope we dont become a gimmick fast break team. even though its way more exciting we wont beat none of the elites.

Wright only turned 22 a couple of months ago. Why let him go and become Travis Outlaw somewhere else?
