Mark Blount Lovefest

Post#1 » by HIF » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:34 pm

There's too much hate aimed at Mark.

He is what he is and he hasn't complained all season.

He didn't complain when he was warming the bench for weeks and he hasn't complained when given the Shaq mantle to carry.

Since starting he has done more than we could have hoped for. He isn't Dwight Howard. In the last couple of games he's adjusted again and looks really good running.

come on

Give Mark some love people.

I never doubted his ability for one second. His game reminds me a lot of Malik Allen with that smooth jumper from the outside, and the ability to dominate the paint on offense. Rebounding is average, but it wont be as big a problem once the Diesel (Haslem) gets back.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Blount has been playing good lately. It was nice to watch him grab 13 rebounds yesterday. However it doesn't take away from the fact that he is a weak rebounder and a horrible post defender. I like him right now in this run and gun offense because he can score in different ways but his defense and lack of rebounding instincts are always going to move him back to the bench.

On a side note, he is making $8 millions a season. The least he could do is produce.

Anyone remember when we had the core of Wade/Odom/Butler and we just needed a big. Blount was having a career-year at Boston and half the board at the time was all over his jockstrap; most people thought if we could just sign him he would tip us over the edge.

Well, it took a while but now we have the dopey looking buggar. Funny how we wouldn't pay him his money at the time but at the end of the day we end paying most of his contract anyway.

Blount has been playing great basketball. About a few weeks ago I was at the San Antonio game and it seemed like he didnt miss a shot. He is a solid center in this league and I am proud that he is stepping up his game.

Blount is needed on this team being the only viable center left on the roster. So many in here are quick to want to give him up without having another suitable option. I imagine that he will be in a Miami uniform for a while and be a very productive player wether it's starting or coming off the bench.

LOL, yeah.

I think it was "sign Mark Blount and draft David Harrison and we're all set!"

He did this in Minnesota for half a season and everyone praised him before he just went back to sucking again. I'm happy that he's been playing well but hopefully he keeps it up.

Averaging like 5 rpg as a starting center is still pathetic though, especially when you play NO defense at all and can hardly catch a ball.

16 ppg 5 rpg 58% shooting in 32 minutes as a starting C this season and his rebounding numbers have actually gone up to 6 or 7 per game since Shaq got traded. That automatically makes him a top 20 center in this league in my opinion, which says a lot about how poor the position has become in recent years, but it also shows that there has got to be a team out there who wants a center who can produce points. The Pistons? Aren't they always looking for one of these? Wasn't Nazr supposed to be the answer?

In a Timberwolves uniform Blount was almost always a professional IMO. There are some things he can't do but I don't understand why people hate on him all the time. I loved Blount next to KG while he was here. He is a terrific mid-range shooter and he actually had a refreshing inside game at C. (Note: Damn near ANTYTHING was refreshing inside to me after having a few years of Olawakandi playing the C spot, not there is a guy who sucks!).

Blount can get you 15 points on any given night. when he is feeling it he is feeling it! Supposedly he had some locker room issues while he was in Minnesota but if he that wasn't the case I would have definitely wanted to keep him on the squad because I think he could play well off of Big Al.

Its funny a lot of the same people complaining about Blount loved Doleac, I remember when Mourning came back a lot of people n here wanted to keep Zo behind Doleac even, then once Zo showed he still had it they jumped back on the Zo bandwagon.

Doleac sucked at everything except a mid range jumper. Horrible defense, weak rebounder, no inside game at all. At least Blount slams a few home each game and is semi-athletic. Blount is a better outside shooter than Doleac with more range too.

Blount is way better than Doleac and a decent player.

Doleac has had a good game here but I have to agree with this statement. Blount smashed Doleac. People need to stop complaining about what he can't do and appreciate what he can. Money jump shooter, clutch shooter, deceptively athletic, make you laugh by just looking at him, very well conditioned.

I don't think I can ever recall ever seeing Blount just really tired. The guy could probably play 40 minutes a night.

I have to admit I like blunts, I me Blount also. He makes up for defense on the offensive side. Besides, Doleac really didn't do much on either side.
