If it weren't for Pat Riley manhandling Avery Johnson's mind in 2006, Walker wouldn't have a ring right now.

The Palm Beach Post -
Legendary coach Pat Riley has been making headlines lately, but rarely have they been positive.
A few of his former players claim that some of his unorthodox tactics can alienate players at times.
"He's a great coach. Don't get me wrong," Antonie Walker said. "I think the league has kind of passed him by.
"You have to be able to relate with players, the modern-day players. Guys are younger. Guys make a lot of money now."
The story is basically about how players in today's game, like Walker, are so beyond lazy and apathetic that they don't want to play for old-time coaches like Riley any more. I am beginning to hate this league more and more every day.

always an excuse - so when we have Spoelstra running the team, it will be "he never played in the NBA, what does he know?" or when we had SVG here, guys like Shaq & Zo politicked to get Riley on the sidelines. It's a built in excuse.

What is more ridiculous, that the PBP would seek out Toine as a "legitimate" resource for this story or that Toine relates to younger players' needs?

He's an idiot loser but based on player poll's saying the same thing, quotes from our own players, and the heats recent offseason and season failures I can't say he's wrong.

Well Riley has not developed any young players in years that is for sure.
Guys like House, Wright , Cook and many other young guys always get put on the end of the bench and develop much slower than young guys on other teams.
I love Riley, but I'm not sure he is the best coach for young players. You need to trust young guys more nowadays as they are the superstars if you look around the league.

Is Walker still playing in this leaque and who would want him as a teamate. He was bitchin about someone buying out his contract, so that he can go to a contender. Phoenix might be crazy enough to take him.....

that Riley can't relate to the young guys, or they don't relate to his methods

No I understand that and also agree with it. But Walker worded it wrong.

Might be referring to the fact there seemingly are a lot of teenagers in the league these days.
Also whats so wrong with what he said? It's true, Riley doesn't translate very well to todays players or even to younger players at all. He refuses to develop young guys on the court and loves to screw with their heads. This is a very bad thing to do when the young players might be better than the vets you have in front of them. We also have a penchant to just let some of these guys go, example Kapono.

Riley probably envies Popovich because the media is quite out there. Coach Pop also likes to slow down his offense, loves veterans, and doesn
