Reports are now coming out that Shaq was the man behind it all. Yes alot of us heat fans knows this but im sure alot of Fans from around the league didne have a clue. I think Shaq opened a can on him self by blasting quinn and ricky. I think alot of fans will be coming over to our board to hear what we have to say about that. I for one always thought shaq and to a lot smaller extent Riley.

he most absorbing revelation that oozed from the clash of the titans was provided by Riley, who says he ordered Shaq's silence when Stan Van Gundy left the Heat's sideline "to spend more time with his family."

Eleven NBA observers out of 10 surveyed believed Riley coordinated Van Gundy's exodus 21 games (11-10) into the '05-'06 championship season to coincide with Shaq's return to active duty. An identical percentage was convinced Riley's renovation of the roster and the ensuing tension caused Van Gundy to vanish.

An hour or so after Dwight Howard's transfixing jamboree victory, I had an impromptu conversation with an on-line reporter who regularly covers the Magic as we walked out of the arena en route to our hotel bus. He maintained Van Gundy's exit had nothing to do with Riley and everything to do with Shaq, who didn't appreciate being jerked in and out, especially in the pivotal minutes of tight games.

"Shaq often disrespected Stan," the reporter disclosed. "Sometimes it was done playfully. More likely it was meant contemptuously."

And it was loud enough so everyone could hear - teammates, the media, courtside fans, anybody within earshot. That season, while on the inactive list, Shaq was making snide and insensitive comments on the bench and during timeouts.

The senselessness of trying to coach Shaq was not lost on Van Gundy. What rubbed him the rawest? It may very well have been the nickname. Nobody's more adept (mocking) at branding people, including himself.

According to the reporter, Shaq would refer to Van Gundy as (porn star) Ron Jeremy, whom he strongly resembles, at least from the neck up.

I could see how that would cause SVG to be stressed out, him being insecure as a new head coach with so much pressure to win and the team's icon undermining him. F U Shaq.

Shaq is the epitome of what is wrong with sports knowdays. Because there was a time and day, were coaches had power and control over players, but with the influence of agents, shoe contracts, TV contracts, and all types of influences, players seem to be the one's calling the shots. That is why I have a lot of respect for Stan Van Gundy, he was a coach that is never afraid to hold his tongue, for the sake of making this pretty madonna's happy.

Perfect example, he called out Dwight Howard, after a game. Some reports said Stan might get fired, even Steven Jackass Smith was pissed at the fact Dwight Howard got called out. But Dwight Howard next game came and had a monster of a game and was actually motivated instead of acting like a baby, and having Stan fired behind the scenes. D Wade used to get blasted by him after games at times, but unlike Shaq, he did respond and played better on the court the next game. Shaq is to much of a sensitive baby that you need a coach that is going baby sit, instead of coach.

I can completely believe that Shaq would be a big part in running Stan out of town - but I know for a fact that most of that team, especially those who are considered "leaders" in our locker room (one of whom I've heard with my own ears admit this) didn't have much respect for Stan as a coach. It's hard for a group of vets looking to get to the "promise land" for the first time to run through walls for a guy who's never been there. Riley commanded that respect anytime he walked in the room, and the results can't be argued.

I've been suspecting this from the day it happened, it's nice to finally have some evidence.

If only other fan bases weren't complete close minded tards, they could see the truth too.

Yeah I guess that's more accurate since it'll include members of our own fan base too.

Thankfully, I never drank that kool-aid and never got too attached to Shaq to the point that I would be sad when he left. I was also very outspoken about not retiring a guys jersey who only played for the team for 3 and a half years even if he helped us win a championship. 'Zo deserves it so much more and should be the only one up there (i don't take the MJ one serious, we're going to have to take it down when we draft Rose anuway since thats his number)

how the hell can we confirm it? it's been on realgm since Stan was an assistant so I doubt he invented it

I've got a pretty decent reputation on this board that when I say something from "inside" the team, I'm usually pretty legit. I'm not name dropping and pointing fingers, but like I said - I've heard these things with my own ears, that Stan couldn't gain the respect of the veterans on the team, and it hurt us early that season. Rileys walks in the door, and everyone starts listening. It's like a substitute teacher, kids are going to act up when the real teacher is away, but when they come back, it's time to get to business.

Sorry for coming across that way, it's just ive always been a big shaq fan, and i can see how a guy like stan can be really upset at that cuz it's so disrespectful, and it really bothered me especially cuz stan like you said was so insecure as a head coach with a lot of pressure so win...so basically i just felt bad for the guy and i thought if shaq started that it made it even worse...

I am still a Shaq Fan. The guy brought us a chip and for that i will always have love for the big guy. He also helped Wade become the star he is today. Would wade still be a Star?Yes but he made him a household name. Shaq made miami a team to be proud of, A team that if they played away from the AAA, it would have a buzz about them. In addition,The guy in the times i met him Was a class Act(Something not all players are) and for that i am thankful. But Have i lost a lot of respect for him in the past months? Yes, i thought he would of learned from his days in L.A. Overall,Nothing surprises me about shaq anymore, The guy is more a talker then a player. But overall shaq we will not forget you but we also wont forget you ran Stan out of here and you called out our Doctor's. Be on your way and please just STFU.
