Kupchak Unsure About Re-Signing Odom
Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak has done a great job of turning into an L.A. favorite this season, but he still doesn't know what the team will do in regard to re-signing Lamar Odom this offseason, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"We want to see how we perform in the playoffs, what the market is like this summer, and most important, how successful our team will be in the playoffs," Kupchak said.
Odom has one year left on his current deal worth more than $14 million. When asked about extending Odom's deal, Kupchak seemed much less adamant than he did about retaining fellow restricted free agents Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf.

What are chances of miami picking him up? I wouldn't mind having him back in a heat uniform plus with the improvement of the miami team next year ( ) it would be an attractive opinion for him.

With Marion and Odom both earning similar bank, and having the same years left, and that Odom hasn't generally fit with Kobe (although he's looked quite good since the All-Star break) and that he fits with Wade chemistry wise, makes an Odom for Marion trade something I would be willing to do. Odom is 1 1/2 years younger meaning a 6 year contract would probably leave him productive for the majority of it too.

The problem with that deal is, they would want ahern and to me thats a deal breaker.
I would say deal if we get Rose and brand has to resign with LA

I dont know, I like LO as a person, I just think he was overrated by people on here who fell in love wit that lovable team and in general, we don't need another non scoring scorer if you know what I mean, a guy who doesn't get his points on his own or easily... we need a proven post scorer on the team to go along with Wade, especially if Matrix is still here

I think LO is better at creating then marion. LO on the block was a monster. The problem is at times he thinks he is a SG. Get L.O on the block and he is a differnt player. The only problem with L.O is that haslem is there.

sorry guys i rather have marion over LO...
marion has the right attitude this team needs, he's a vocal leader, and has IMO a greater desire to win...
marion is also quicker and has better defense which means he can guard guys like dirk or someone like lebron...he cant guard timmy or KG but neither can LO...besides he'll guard KG outside the point as good as anyone else...
the only problem i have with marion is he's taking up too much of our cap space...
and LO although loved here, doesn't fit. irather trade marion for a resigned josh smith

I would be willing to trade Marion, if we could dump Blount's contract on them.
What about Marion and Blount.
For Odom and Radmanovic
I think Radmanovic's contract is a bit expensive, and long. But I do see some descent untapped talent in the guy, would add a three point treat.
And the main part, getting rid of Blount, worst defensive big.

Noo to Radmonovic!!! No more bad contracts. The same thing was being said when we traded Walker.

I don't think is that bad a contract.
6 million per year, for a three point threat, that hasn't reach his potential, He has Turkoglu potential, even at worst, is just 6 million, you dump it, on someone else after a year. The guy is still young 6 10 three point shooter.

Sorry D. Mark blount is a 7 million Dollar Center and still cant trade him. Center> 3 point shooter
That is a very bad contract. Think about Smush parker, the guy had 2.2 owed to him and still no1 would bite. Think Blount 7million center and no1 wants him. Think about this
Kapono-6million
James posey-3 million
kyle korver-4million
john salmon-4million
ron artest-7million
Im just showing you how bad that contract is. Question? Blount for 2 more years at 7 million or Walker at 8 million for 1 year?
I would Take Walker for 1 more year. The same thing when it comes to blount and vlad. The elite teams do not take bad deals like that. Look at the spurs, detroit, boston. They are smart about there cap space and the last couple of years we have been stupid.

Artest is because he got rip off, once his contract is up he will get paid easily over 10 million. I actually think besides Posey that is bargain, he is better than Kapono all around. His size could be used in different ways.
Getting rid of Blount for a three point threat would be huge, killing two birds with one stone.

Taking on his contract is getting stones thrown at us. Artest is at a below avg contract but there is a reason he may not opt out this year. Contracts are not being thrown out like they used to. Ask the knicks what is killing them. Contracts like Vlad,Blount are the ones that bring your franchise down. You say hey its only 6 million but those are the killers. Think about what 6 million could get you this offseason?
Mikeal Petrius will probably take 4 to 5 million
Daniel Gibson will take 6 million this year
Ricky Davis who i think is better then Vlad will take 4 to 5 million
Vlad is on a horrible contract. So is blount but the difference is blount got 1 year less.

A contract like JO would kill you.
We had Walker that everyone complain taking 8 million, and we won a title.
this year we had Shaq a 20 million waste not playing and eating cap space, same could happen with a just like a guy like JO.
You could live with assets that will mesh well with a D Wade, and hopefully Rose backcourt. I think we are underrating the size factor of 6 10.
At worst Radmo is worth 3.5 million. He has the potential to be a 7.5 million player.

LO is better defensively inside..yes, forget the blocks and all of that..when he plays PF his length bothers a lot of people. The biggest problem is hes very inconsistent and makes dumb mistakes, but he is a better passer and better at creating his own shot than Marion. Though Marion is better outside shooter. And theyre both equally good at scoring off putbacks and broken plays.
Their value is very similar.

while we're at it can we somehow make the Wizards trade us Caron Butler???
If we want a 03-04 redux we gotta go the full nine, hell bring back Rafer Alston and convince Brian Grant out of retirement lol
But seriously I think Marion can fetch us more than Odom, I doubt Butler is going anywhere but damn I would love to have him back.
Does anybody besides me also think that Caron Butler is the best player dollar for dollar in the league excluding rookie contracts? I mean he only makes like 9 million a year and he pretty much earns every cent.
Butler back to Miami make it happen

Rather have Marion. Lamar Odom is very overrated.

Let's dream.....
Marion opts out and resigns for around $12mil per season, we manage to get rid of Blount, we get tons of cap space in 2009... Clippers resign Brand for crazy money so we need a cheaper option. In comes Odom.... how does this sound: Rose - Wade - Marion - Odom - Haslem (Not much of outside shooters) but we could then sign Mike Miller to be our 6th man and a few more shooters...
Wake up ... wake up
Now back to Barron posting up after getting a pass from Ahearn.
