Heat: Pitino on Rose

> Posted by Ethan J. Skolnick at 8:02:37 AM
Louisville coach Rick Pitino said this today on our morning radio show on WFTL-640AM, regarding which draft choice should walk through the Heat's door:

"I think they're both great. Beasley is going to score a lot of points, like a Dominique Wilkins scored a lot of points. I think Rose can potentially be a centerpiece, or an integral part of a championship. I'm not sure that's the case with Beasley. I'm not sure when you draft Beasley, you say that's the cornerstone of a championship. I think it's the cornerstone of greatness, in terms of individual statistics, but in terms of being a cornerstone for a championship -- putting Rose with Dwyane Wade, you've got now the great backcourt for the future."

Pitino's just repeating what I've been saying all season long. Why doesn't anybody listen to me?

True... Your NBA coaching winning percentage is at .500 which is better than Pitinos'.

LOL ... I just played the ESPN Mock Lottery 4 times, and each time we got Brook Lopez.

If we get Lopez, I'll shoot myself...we need Rose.
Or we can trade our #1 for the LA Sparks' #1 and draft Candace Parker...she can ball!

Bang!, I just played it 5 times. 4 times I got the #1 pick and we got Beasley, the other time we got #4 and Bayless...

I just ran it and it had the Heat getting the first pick and us drafting Hibbert. Yey ya!

Man, Hibbert's like the forgotten draft pick. What a disappointing season for him.

Hibbert did not develop into the dominant player everyone thought he could be but I would love to have him on our team (not with a top 5 pick though). Under Zo and in our system he could become a Mutombo-type of defensive specialist.

i've played that espn lottery a handful of times and the heat managed to get the #1 pick everytime, hopefully that's how things will end up

judging from Rose's performance in the tournament, we really need that #1 pick

Even getting #2, you have teams like Minny/New York/Seattle? that would love get get Rose.

The only way we'll be somewhat safe with actually getting Rose with the #2 pick is if Memphis gets the #1 pick, and of course they already have Conley, Lowry, Crittenton

Can't wait for that draft lottery its killing me, at least a good month away :banghead:

My Draft Board
1.) Derrick Rose
2.) Michael Beasley
3.) O.J. Mayo
4.) Jared Bayless

BTW, since we have pretty much clinched worst record (magic # is 1 in either us losing or Sonics winning), I have finally removed the plagued Miami Heat XX Anniversary window decal from my car. Figure the good luck warm up needs to start NOW.

I thought we already had Candace Parker? Didn't we cut her and she signed with the Clippers?

Man that lottery thing is depressing. Most of the time I did it we were picking 3 & 4.

If we bomb badly in the playoffs how bout a deal to stoke Pat's ego?

Billups/Sheed for Rose/Haslem/Blount?

Sheed will be a $13 mil expiring to boot. Between him and Matrix that is $30 mil :o

Just a thought...
Do you think Pat (and his ego) could pass up a starting Lineup of Billups/Wade/Wright/Matrix/Sheed?

Pretty enticing deal.

The fact we get rid of Blount in this one, has me licking my chops. Am also a fan of Billups and Sheed basketball skill .

But how big will our window of winning a title. Like 2 to 3 years at most.

If we missed out on Rose, I would definite consider it. I know you want Rose, but the guy has HOF fame potential writting on him. So it might be hard, but not a bad deal, from other guys that are laughable.

We need to be on the lookout if Blake Griffin declares..i would put him at 4, i like him more than Brook Lopez....

Im also a big Blake Griffin fan. I think he will declared also due to injuries during this season. I doubt he wants to battle through another college season where he would be subject to injuries even if he is playing with his brother.

My Big Board:
1a. Rose
1b. Beasley
3. OJ Mayo
4. Griffin
5. Bayliss
6. Brook Lopez
7. Eric Gordon
8. Kevin Love
9. Hashem Thabeet
10. Anthony Randolph (LSU PF)
