Who is better for the future? I think chris will get offerd 3yr 9 million this offseason. So i ask, Chris Quinn 3 million or Marcus Banks 4.5 million.
Quinn is a better Shooter and passer but Marcus is a better defender and slasher. What should the heat do? Trade Chris or Resign chris and try and trade Banks. Before banks got injuryd he was showing me alot. The guy can be a very good backup PG and spark off the bench.
Mia Stats-
Banks-----9.5 PG, 1.7 T.o, 3 Asst, 21Mpg
Quinn-----7.8 PG, .92 T.o, 3Asst, 22 Mpg

Right now its gotta be Banks. Until he shows he's totally not worthy of the job.

The question is moot because if Quinn gets 3 million, it won't be from Riley. I think Quinn is a NBA minimum lifer. If I can get rid of Banks for an expiring and keep Quinn at the minimum I do that, if Banks is on our payroll, he's gotta play.

You really think he will get minum? I think he is a shoe in for atleast 2 million and i know someone will overpay, so i said 3 million.

Let's not forget that we're talking about Pat Riley, the minimum wage backup point guard specialist. This is the same Pat Riley who wouldn't give Alston or Damon Jones the security they wanted. Why would Riles even consider giving someone as expendable as Chris Quinn some job security? It's really THAT difficult to find another backup PG to sign with us for the minimum? I'll answer my own question - it isn't.

Is either one a franchise PG? no, let them battle it out. Don't ever give Quinn $3 mil a year.

Quinny will probably be offered 3 years/$3.6 mil, so keep them both. Banks for backup PG/SG and Quinn for very solid third string PG.

I think you are all overrating Quinn's value. We were the worst team in the league, playing garbage minutes for 24 minutes of every game, with our 2 or 3 better PG's (considering Wade spends time there) all injured most of the way. Quinn put up 8 points and 3 assists a game. He shot well from 3, but poorly from the field, he's 25 already, and has little athleticism. He does have a great work ethic, but I don't think as many people are paying attention as you think.

The same was said with Damon jones,Dooling,Rafer alston. People are always looking for shooters and PG's. I used to be the biggest Quinn hater in the building but im starting to think he maybe a NBA player. The guy Shoots good from downtown and he has a great Asst/To ratio.

I like Banks better as our backup PG ... and Quinn as our lottery representative.

Those guys got contracts contributing better than Quinn type numbers for contenders or at least playoff teams. Quinn doing what he did for the worst team in the league in no way qualifies him for more than the minimum. The guy might not even be in the league next year, I think he will, but I can't see more than the minimum, and god help the team that pays him 3 mill per for three seasons.

He'll at least be a backup PG next year. His numbers at the end of the season (even though the team was losing) were too great not to catch on somewhere as a backup. Travis Diener got 3 years, 3.6-4 mil for showing less.
Denver, Phoenix, and San Antonio would love to have him back up their starting point guards, I'm sure. The guy doesn't make mistakes with the ball, runs an offense well, and has great shooting percentages on a team where there was only 1-2 other reliable shooters.

I kind of agree with the Quinn detractors. I remember initially being embarrassed every time Quinnie was on the floor. He's just not really an NBA player to me. Yeah he's done some pretty nice things, particularly this year, but its all been in essentially garbage time on a garbage team. Put any decent point guard by NBA standards in his role and they should get better production.
A paper clip can look like sterling silver in a pile of dog doodoo.

Although you could make the argument that playing on a better team would make him better. I'd like to see Quinn get some burn with the real Heat before I make a final analysis.

I know it's only one game, but he had the team running to perfection as the starting PG in Phoenix, the only good game of the year. And in Dallas.

I actually think San Antonio would rather have Banks. He is bulldog in defense. Something the look very much at. Quinn is just a worst Steve Nash version of PG, but with much less skill in offense. His okay offenisve player, that can shoot, but really can't create as much as Nash, but awful defender just like Nash.
Don't get me wrong, I like Quinn as a third string back up, he has earn it, but lets not get carried away with the Quinn love.

You guys will be surprised by Banks. He is streaky, but when he is on he can shoot lights out. His defense is insane. I wish he had some more PT in PHX, but he can't run an offense. He is better at playing off the ball... like when Wade is on the floor. He is fast and has amazing handles.
