I think offseason will be a very big one for Dorrel. Im pretty sure alot of teams are going to call with low offers but What if someone offers the midlevel for Dorrel? Do we lose him for nothing or match and have to over pay. The guy is very close to Wade and even Wade says "I hope we Resign him". Whats your take. What is the Must we match for Dorrel?
To me, Anything over 4 million we have to let him walk.

I voted to keep him up to 5, even though that might be a little high. I like the kid a lot and think he's far from his inevitable blossoming. Particularly if we draft Rose he should be kept.

Is the contract offered before or after his annual freak injury in the Summer League?

I'd like to wait and see what this year's injury is first. I mean, he could lose an arm or something ... and it could be the one he's capable of dribbling with.

He's never going to be T-Mac 2. If the price is right then keep him, otherwise let him go.

Come now, Dorell is very capable of dribbling left. In fact, he prefers it.

I'm pro Dorrell, but I can't see paying him too much right now. He is worth 5 mil a year and that might be enough to keep him. He brings a lot to the table at a young age and I'd hate to see him leave and be a great piece for another team. I don't see him ever being a superstar but his intangibles are worth a lot. If he could become a deep threat then his game would benefit greatly as would the Heat's progress.

If he had gone to Wake Forest for even a year he would've been The Man and we'd be seeing a totally different player. Then again, we wouldn't have drafted him.

Don't play dumb, I know your reading comprehension is better than that. Obviously, he's implying that Dorell wouldn't have been glued to the bench if SVG was the head coach as opposed to Riley.

By that measure, Dorell's agent or his momma would've been the best coach for him. They'd give him more minutes than Stan would have.

Besides, I'm glad Riley focused on winning a championship rather than playing a fragile teenager.

He was, though that was the same year Dorrell Wright lifted weights for the first time of his entire life.

He had no chance at all for playing time in his rookie season; dude was about as ready for the big leagues as that 16 year old shortstop prospect the Florida Marlins signed a year ago from the same town Miguel Cabrera was born.

If I were Miami's GM, I'd match the MLE.

Anyone pays Dorrell Wright the MLE, they deserve to have him.
IMO he plays for the 1yr tender, shows that he can be healthy and improve his play and then try to cash in from Miami or another team as a UFA the following summer.

How many rookies have they developed? Since Riley has been here, the only rookies that amounted to anything were Butler, Wade and Haslem. Only Butler managed to play under Riley and that was because there was no one else to play the first year. God forbid we had an average veteran on the roster, Caron would have rode the pine all year. Wade and Haslem played their first 2.5 years under SVG (except for training camp).

so how many rookies left here to become impact players somewhere else while they rode the pine here?

Not really rookies but Ricky Davis and Rafer Alston have turn into good players, not allstars but good

Rafer played under SVG. Bruce Bowen doesn't count. He's a guy that was taken off the scrap heap like Ike Austin...and to be honest Haslem as well. These are guys that had to work their asses off just to get a chance a 2nd look from the NBA. What they had is not something that Riley taught them, it is what they brought with them that made Riley notice them.

In anycase, just a couple years ago people were saying Wright would be the next T-Mac. Now you guys are telling me he's the next Rafer?

As for Ricky Davis...come on dude...there is a "Bye Bye Ricky. LOL" thread just a few rows down from this one

Isn't there a QO for Wright of $2,425,086? I doubt anybody offers him more, and i think that's a good paycheck for him if he stays solid.
