LAKE BUENA VISTA

For the second time since the NBA Draft lottery, a party with insight into the process has expressed the belief that Memphis point guard Derrick Rose could fall to the Heat with the No. 2 pick.

After a party familiar with the plans of the Bulls, who hold the No. 1 pick, and the Heat said last week, "No. 1 and No. 2 are booked and done," Memphis forward Joey Dorsey said he, too, has been led to believe that Kansas State forward Michael Beasley would go at the top of the draft to Chicago, leaving Rose for the Heat.

"Chicago's got a lot of pressure on them because Derrick's from Chicago," Dorsey said, "but they're going to take Beasley. I've got the inside. They're going to get Beasley."

Bulls Vice President John Paxson has adamantly denied reaching a decision.

Dorsey offered his comment today after participating the first game at the Orlando draft camp at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

Rose and Beasley were among the 15 leading prospects allowed to bypass the round-robin of scrimmages and move directly to the weekend physicals and measurements. The two will be part of a media availability session Thursday of leading draft candidates.

Heat General Manager Randy Pfund was mum after Wednesday's morning's drills about his team's draft intentions.

Asked if the Heat had set up workouts or interviews with Rose or Beasley, Pfund said, "Nope, no visits."

Asked if the Heat had been turned down for any visits, Pfund said, "Nope."

Pfund declined to quantify where the Heat stood in its draft deliberations, saying, "I'm not going to discuss that. I'm not going to get into any details into that."

Heat President Pat Riley was expected to arrive at the camp later in the day.

Pfund was asked if the Heat could wind up bringing in only one or two candidates for its No. 2 overall pick.

"The process will let us know what the number will be," he said. "It could be real small, it could be bigger, depending on a couple of answers to some questions with some of the key people. We could go ahead and try to get in 10 people or we could make it very simple and not bring in anybody."

Of having to find a point guard, Pfund said, "There's been no concept right now that it's something we have to fit. We've got a new coach. I think we're wide open to kind of evaluating what's out there and all the avenues -- trades, draft, free agency -- and putting together a group of guys that fit. So I don't think there's any predetermined, 'We have to be one type' of team."

Maybe he's working for the Bulls misinformation crew.

If not, I'm extremely happy.

I have doubts, though, that the Bulls have made any final decisions.

Either way I'm happy, but it seems to be a much simpler pick if Rose falls.

I dunno, maybe the trade offers get more interesting if Rose falls to 2?

I think chi-town is telling beasley camp that there taking rose and rose camp the same. They dont want anybody to know anything. They want to see what miami is willing to offer

True. I would like to add that I saw Joey Dorsey at a Heat game towards the end of the season, for whatever that may be worth.

The question now becomes, will Riley entrust a team to a YOUNG PG?

likewise, and more-so because Beasley/Wade off the bat could be a better combo than Rose/Wade off the bat.

But, either one of them is going to help us immensely in our rebuilding/restocking phase.

With this story coming out, could Steven A Smith's mention of Rose not wanting to play for Chicago have come from Joey Dorsey, as well?

Grain. Salt.

From here on to the 26th of June alot of crap is going to thrown out there. Bottom line we won't know anything until that day. Or atleast until the Bulls make the choice a day earlier and slip out to the media they'll be taking either Pooh or B-Easy(ala how Portland did with Oden).

I think Rose would rather play her but knows Chi-Town is going to take him. He probley told Joey that to stir somethings up. Either Way im going to the Draft party with my beasley jersey, Unless it comes out that Chi-town is taking Beasley 100% sure then ill go in a Memphis Rose jersey(Can't wear 23 here so wont know what number to pick)

Beasley's gonna have to pick a new number too. #30 will be taken when we re-sign Earl Barron.

Just like Ira, I highly doubt that Chicago doesn't know who is the best player on their board after preparing for this draft for months. Even if another player blows their mind which won't happen until after private workouts, they have a favorite.

My thinking is that they have Beasley #1 from the beginning but the city of Chicago and the fans who are very upset with the results of last season, are forcing Paxson to really look into drafting Rose.

Now his job is to convince everyone that Michael Beasley is the better choice.

Na, not for Rose. Rose will wear 25. Number he wore at Chicago Simeon. For sure. Hell he was going to wear that number at Memphis but it was retired (Penny Hardaway).

But Lebron in 2010? That's a diffrent story 8) (headband rule will be lifted as well)...

Maybe riley tells blount to get rid of number 30 and he says he is willing to accept a Buyout of 100$, So he can sign with a team and Wear his Fav number.

A man can dream.
