Hardaway is rather mad that Riley hasn't taken him on as an assistant or scout. He says that he has tried for the last 3 or 4 years to get on, but everyone keeps looking over him.

Tim Hardaway is at the Pre-Draft camp in Orlando and he

he's stubborn, never shown himself to be terribly insightful or bright (who the hell is Nay Nay Hilario? is the line that cost him his ESPN studio gig after about 2 episodes) and then his controversy with the gay comments probably made him too radioactive for Riley to consider giving him an important role in the organization, and he certainly couldn't be put in an ambassador type role. He didn't particular leave on good terms when his playing days ended and he got traded and he has been opinionated and needy for attention since he left, always making comments like he could still play and the Heat could still use him and he is better than the guys they had on the team. For crying out loud Keith Askins who has been with the team since 1990 didn't have a spot on the bench, he had to sit behind the bench because there were so many coaches.

I just don't particularly feel Timmy is owed anything by the team is all and his opinion of himself > others opinions of him in the organization. Just my opinion.

Lane that's cool
But someone should give the Guy another chance
Why not Pat Riley,I'm sure Pat is not some kind of saint
dealing with other .

No Timmy doesn't articulate very well
Nothing, a little training can't take care of..

Timmy made a dumb comment about gays
Nothing that every heterosexual had not thought about once in there lifetime

IF Pat and Tim are on conversation basically
something is give Tim hope in order to persuade
he dream after playing ball

There is plenty of other example of players with check past
are now sitting on the bench around the NBA

o I was trying to say lane not lame
there so close

maybe Riley knows Hardaway better than either of us and still doesn't offer him a job...what's that say

Timmy was the best PG we ever had, and I wish him nothing but the best. Anyone can make a mistake, but I value how the person reacts to it afterwards and Timmy has done an outstanding job of overcoming his gay comments. I would love for the Heat to give him an opportunity, my only concern and its probably the reason they have not done it is that I am not sure how Timmy will deal with being the last assistant coach on the bench and having to be a company guy. Tim has always been the man and outspoken, and that does not jive with being an assistant. If Pat was still the coach, it would be easier, but with a new young head coach, does he really want to put Timmy on the staff?

you kind of sum up my last two post in this thread

The Guy just wants to be around the Game ... He start a semi- pro league, that passion for the Game

What Hardaway have done in the past is seem to be coming
back to haunt him...

I still remember in the past how mad Tim was with Riley when he did not give him the extension he is seeking that prompted a sign and trade with Dallas. Can't remember the exact words Timmy said about Riley but I remember what Riley said, "what I like about Timmy is he has a cannon in his mouth".

But he could scout - if he is any good.

Timmy blew it with the remarks he made over the radio, if he hadn't already with Riley.

He needs to give it a rest, or go elsewhere....

I completely agree with Lane. The guy left us on horrible terms. He continued to bash Riley, the players, and the organization while playing (ummm errrr not playing) on his new team. Of course that soured Riley on Tim. Think about Zo. When he left, he remained professional. He had nothing but good things to say about the experience he had with the Heat. He left that door open. Timmy didn't.

Man, when I first read the name of this thread I thought Penny was trying to find his way back with the team..... now that is more scary than Timmy coaching.

Either way, I agree with Lane; Timmy digged his grave with this franchise long ago and his failures since he left the game have not earned him any points either. I love Timmy the player and maybe one day when he realizes that it is ok to be human and accept a role, them maybe he'll be back.

I believe his controversy with the gay comments really made him put both feet on the ground. I could see him as scout sometime in the future if keeps it smart instead of "keeping it real"...

Penny at least has an off the charts basketball IQ and a humble personality

I could see Penny being a coach. Maybe when he gets tired of trying to get back on the court, Riley could offer him a coaching spot (we have one open too)

^If Terry Porter doesn't get hired as a HC, I'm wondering if he'd return to Miami as an asst. coach?

he's already an asst with Detroit, I am sure he's under contract there

Tim could be our "cross-over" coach.

Give my boy something, anything!
