MIA/MEM

During the NBA Draft special on ESPN it was brought up that a deal was being discussed that would send Haslem to Memphis in exchange for the #5 overall pick. I love Haslem but this trade would be awesome. I cant see why Memphis would do it.

If they want to give the #5 pick for Haslem go ahead, be my guest. I'll take that deal, even though I love Haslem. You can either package that pick to move down 4-5 spots and add some quality players+ a pick, or just take the best player/need available. (Bayless? Lopez?)

Memphis seems to really be trying to move that pick, for a while it was the David Lee for the 5th pick. I would take it real quick.

This may explain the last second workouts of Bayless and Mayo. I love Haslem too, but I would take the number 5 pick for him in a red second. The possibility of getting Beasley at 2 and potentially Bayless, Love, Westbrook, or Lopez would be sick nasty

I'd hate to see Udonis moved, but this would be tough to pass on. That said, I am not too crazy about anyone I think will be available at this spot. My preference, assuming Mayo didn't drop to 5, would be Kevin Love or Eric Gordon. Bayless would be ok, I suppose. As long as we didn't pick Lopez.

I do like Brandon Rush as a fit on our team. Obviously, 5 is too high for him, but it would be great if we could get a pick in the early teens to take him.

Possiblya deal of the 5th pick for the 13 and 27 from the Blazers.

We have a trade tread sticked on the top of the page.

But there are very few deals, where i see Memphis trading the 5# for haslem.
But here is one, Haslem,Blount for Brian Cardinel(Bad Contract but ends in 2010),Jason Collins,5#

Why for Memphis-They get there starting C and PF, while get rid of Brian Cardinal.
Why for maimi-We get a expring contract in Collins and number 5 Pick. Yes we get Cardinal contract but thats the only way they will give us a high pick

Thats even more lopsided then the deal mentioned on ESPN. why in ur right mind would u say they would like Blount as there starting center

Wow this must be a Chicago type rumor because I don't see why Memphis would trade the #5 pick straight up for Haslem, but if it does happen then Memphis is in the running for two consecutive years of bad management.

I am not sure why Memphis would do this other than to unload Cardinal but it sure would be sweet to get the #5 and have a shot at Love or Bayless

Last time i checked, Darko and J.Collins are not lighting the league on fire. Calling Blount there starting center is not that crazy. Get rid of Cardinal is another reason why i could see them doing this year, You think Haslem for 5# is bad, Yet im including Cardinal for Blount, which most teams would say Blount >>> Cardinal.

But either way we will be getting back Cardinal to match salaries with Haslem. They want to trade Cardinal as much as they want to get Haslem.

Grizzlies GM might just be dumb enough to accept this trade  Lets just hope he doesn't ask for Jerry West's input on it.

From the wiretap:

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... no_2_pick/

"The Grizzlies are looking to acquire the No. 2 pick from the Miami Heat but won't offer point guard Mike Conley in any offer, according to The Memphis Commercial Appeal.

They would target Michael Beasley with the second overall selection.

The Grizzlies and Heat have talked about swapping first-round picks. In a rumored deal Miami would acquire Mike Miller, Kyle Lowry, and the No. 5 pick for the second selection, but Memphis countered with Miller, Lowry, and the No. 28 pick.

According to ESPN.com, the Heat want the Grizzlies to send Miller, Conley, and the No. 5 pick for the No. 2 pick and Daequan Cook."

Nice counter... Memphis. Good luck w/ that. Prepare to stand Pat at 5... or be flieced by Pat.

Memphis is absolutely crazy if they think they can get Beasley for Mike Miller, Lowry and a late first.

I personally think it's stupid to trade Beasley for Miller, Lowry and #5. Miller is a nice SF, Lowry is a backup PG on a championship level team and Mayo won't be there at #5.

Ever since they got fleeced in the Gasol deal, they're petrified to make another move. I guess poor little Chris Wallace had his feelings hurt by all the media criticism of the Gasol fleecing, so now he's just going to be ridiculous in trade negotiations.

Miller, Lowry, and #28 for Beasley and others? LOL.

Remember at the deadline Riley said he told him "Tell me what your perfect deal is and we'll do it" in regards to Mike Miller? Poor little Wallace apparently couldn't respond. Or pehaps he demanded Dwyane Wade, just so he didn't have to close another deal and have his feelings hurt by the media again.

I think Kupchak cut off Wallace's man parts and gave him a vagina.

At #5, with Miller and Conley, I think we should target a big, like DeAndre Jordan. Conley is still a very good prospect at the 1.

Still though, with all those pieces, we're talking about years of development from those young players, and I think we're trying to make changes to become competitive now, not 3 years from now.
