When a reporter got lost in a question relating him to Seattle's Kevin Durant, and called Beasley "Kevin," he cupped his hand over a microphone.
"He called me Kevin,'' he whispered.
"What?" the reporter said.
"Nothing, nothing, proceed,'' he said.
Since the draft lottery I've gone to worrying about this kid's character to loving it. I love Beasley's personality, hes personable, hes funny, hes witty. Yah, maybe it comes off as immature but can't you say the same thing for one of the greatest NBA players ever... Shaquille O'Neal? That is exactly who Beasley reminds me of off the court, interacting with the media. Instead of giving typical robotic responses to questions from the media, he actual shows a personality. He's not a bad kid, he seems like a genuinely great, fun loving, happy go lucky KID. Which is exactly what he is at the ripe age of 19.
I've also seen people express concern about how Beasley will do in South Beach. Um, what? How is B-easy any more of a concern here then someone like Ricky "I tried to cheat my way to a triple-double" Davis? If I'm not mistaking, even Ricky never got in any trouble and played all 82 games here in Miami. I'd be just as worried with someone like O.J Mayo being in South Beach as I would Michael Beasley. Come on, this is the same kid that watches Sponge Bob Square Pants and plays video games all the time. Hopefully all these rumors are just a smokescreen, and hopefully Riley makes the right choice and takes Beasley. If not, something tells me he will never live it down.
