Do you think Haslem will get traded?

We just drafted two PF's. Beasley might be a 3 or a 4 , but this guy Darnell looks like a pure PF.
Fact even Marion can play PF.

I think we might go after a Center.

Or a shooter.

Any ideas if Haslem gets traded, who are we going to land?

Haslem can play the Center spot a fair amount, imho.

I would love to see Haslem stay, but we just drafted two PF's...

I think he's gone for a Center.

UD actually got some minutes at the 5 in 04 if ya'll remember. Backed up the Rasta Monsta for a bit.

I only want to move Haslem if it's for a sure thing at the Center position. I don't want some young project. It's gotta be a defensive minded vet C that can bang.

Haslem will be a bench player here from now on if he stays, and that is where he belongs. The PF has to be versatile, athletic, etc. and Haslem does not have any of what most starting PFs have in the NBA today.

However, Haslem is a very hard worker and gets the most out of his body and skill level, so he is a great bench player with experience.

This guy is welcome on any team as the hustler and guy that will take charges, grab boards and do whatever it takes.

I say leave haslem. Let beasley learn the NBA from the 6th man spot. At the all star break, Use haslem,Marion to package Banks.

Haslem is the Posey of power forwards.

Haslem is a Riley guy, hard worker and team captain. So I think he will be good to keep around but we have a lot of holes it all depends what trades will be available, b/c we shouldnt just let go of him for nothing.

I think it is more likely that we trade Marion, if we trade. I kinda get the feeling that we'll just get Diop with the MLE and call it an off-season. Let Marion go off the books in 09 and sign Brand or Boozer.

Haslem has got to go. We have too many holes to bring Haslem off the bench. We need PG and C (Though this is gonna be tough to get) help. Beasley is supposed to be as NBA ready as anyone and we aren't going to be true contenders so he needs 35+ minutes a night at PF.

Rather let Chalmers develop than spend money on a PG or trade UD for one. I'm happy with our PG situation now. We'll see how it plays out on the court. Center is the real hole. Our options in Free Agency are imperfect Diop, K Thomas, and Kwame. So I'd part with Haslem for a C, but I'm not sure he could fetch someone better than the FA options to tell you the truth.

In Riley's interview with ESPN, he made suggestions of playing Beasley at C. Not starting at C or anything like that but he was talking about Beasley's versatility and how he can play the 3, 4 or 5 "if you want really small ball"

love Haslem but we gotta trade him for a PG or C if we can..... if a Kirk Hinrich or Biedrins type guy is available we gotta to do it.

Now if the best offer we gets is someone like Lowry or Tinsley..then id rather keep him and have Haslem be our 6th man.

Chalmers could be a 20-25 minute guy but I don't think anyone would want him and Quinn (or any other scrub) playing 48 minutes of PG for us.

I love Haslem but what do you guys think about trading him to Indiana for Jeff Foster? Foster's contract is one year shorter then UD's (so it's an expiring, and its about the same size as Haslem's). That fills the center void for this year, and also allows us to use the full MLE this year and still sign a max player in 09. We could even re-sign Foster after this season.

I'd only trade Haslem if we could get a center better than what is freely available. Diop will be the most pursued, Thomas will probably look for a sure contender (Boston), and Kwame will be a cheap last-option for some team. We're better off trying to sign one of those three, because we just aren't going to get as much return in a trade of Haslem for a center. Undersized, defensive-minded PFs are dime-a-dozen to GMs, a decent big has way higher value. If we're looking to trade a forward for a center and make it worth our time...it has to involve Marion. He has value that can net a meaningful center. That being said, I'd just keep Marion to ease the offensive load for Beasley and make our team more explosive on the break. We can find a cheap center stop-gap during this rebuilding/growing year...one-year contract for Kwame with both Marion and Brown going off the books in 2009.
