Starting Center = Zo?

Post#1 » by DeJuanderful » Fri Jun 27, 2008 8:02 am

So does Alonzo Mourning become our starting Center by default? No one would expect him to play a lot of minutes, perhaps 15-25. Yet, he would be the best fit with our current personel.

Zo won't be recovered until about December.

Riley is going to make a push at Diop, I'm certain.

It will be too costly. The Mavs have already said they want him back so Cuban will overpay and he knows the system. We still want cap flexibility. Either next year for Brand/Boozer or the following for Bosh.

I know he's kid of done a bit, but perhaps we should make a move for Marcus Camby.

While Riley has talked about maintaing flexiblity, he's constantly talked about utilzing the 'exceptions' as well.

So we're either not going to do anything and go into next summer with about 16 million in flexiblity or about 11 million.

I'd like to see us try to pry one of the Portland centers. They obviously won't trade Oden, but with Frye and Pryzbilla, one's gotta go.

What about Marion for Frye (last year), Blake (2 years) and LaFrentz' contract (1 year).

come on, we can get more value for Marion than Frye, Blake, and LaFrentz. I'd rather take my chances with a Marion-Beasley-Blount frontcourt than Beasley-Haslem-Fyre.

What the hell? Frye is a skinny softy who likes to take 15-20 foot jumpers ... he is not the center we should be trading for. Not to mention that the Blazers are stacked and don't need Marion nor would they want to resign him and/or lose him after one year.

The point is to replace the turd that is Mark Blount. We need a defensive guy like Diop to give us 20-25 minutes so that 'Zo only has to play the other 20. Joel Anthony can be third on the depth chart in case of injury too.

Mayeb go after Przybilla. in 23 minutes last year he pulled down 8.4 boards and 1.25 blocks. If not I'd probably go after Kwame for 1-2 years so he can expire in one of the years we're looking for capspace. Maybe trade Marion for a legit defensive minded C or scoring presence down low.

I think Kwame will never get it. Pryzbilla's contract goes over by 1 year. I always looked at Fry as a Camby type. Active around the hoop for blocks and putbacks. That's all we need in a center anyway.

Alright what exactly is going on here?

Are you confusing Channing Frye with someone else? He's a soft jump shooter who blocks a shot once every blue moon and is a terrible defender. You must be thinking of someone else.

I personally never want to see the words "Kwame Brown" in this forum EVER AGAIN.

i love Przbilla..but i dont see Portland dealing him, they need a backup center for when Oden is in foul trouble. And hes probably the best backup center.

I agree, Kwame is garbage

i think the Heat need to take a look at Patrick O'Bryant. Not as a starter type C but as a backup/developemental type C.

Draft express profile

Nellie killed this kids confidence but he has talent. He sat the bench the last few years and has not proven anything in the league. The Heat could get him for cheap and see if we can improve his confidence and his game. Say what you want about him but the guy has an NBA body and is only 22 years old. He has a 7'5 wingspan and like 9'5 standing reach.

I think Blount may start the year as starting C but at the same time, his mins will always be limited and you wont see him on the floor during crunch time. Blount is a horrible compliment to Beasley so I can see him paired with Haslem when he gets his mins.

Next year Blounts contract will be expiring and teams will have more interest.

I think Blount / Zo / Patrick O'Bryant / Joel Anthony could get the job done at the C position with the ability to play Haslem there as well at times. Remember that the NBA is changing and Shaq-like C's are not around anymore.

how about trying to get Brad Miller from Sacramento? Signed through '10, at around 12M per? They have Spencer Hawes, Mikki Moore, Shelden Williams who can play C, and that new kid Thompson they reached for who is also a big.

How about Marion/Banks For Miller/K.Thomas/1st round pick(top 10 protected)

Brad miller-Zo-Blount
Haslem-Thomas
Beasley-Dorrel
Wade-Cook
(FA)-Chalmers-Quinn

This would give us Thomas,Miller,Blount as expiring in 2010.

Im not a fan of Brad Miller. He doesnt compliment Beasley well. He has a mid range type game like Beasley and isnt a great defender.
