what about j will?

I know he kinda sucks but IMO there isnt much out there in FA and the guy can still shoot the ball and knows our offense...hell be a stopgap pg until chalmers steps up and would prob sign a 1-2 yr deal
most importantly, signing him back would mean that we dont have to dig into our MLE and can focus on other needs
resign j will and split the MLE b/w kwame brown and pietrus
Brown/zo/blount/anthony
beasley/haslem/lasme
marion/pietrus/wright
wade/cook/
j will/banks/chalmers/quinn
then at the trading deadline look whats available for marion as a team may be desperate to clear cap...if not, let him go and try to sign iggy or gerald wallace or deng
a core of beasley iggy wade chalmers is sick

Can we just have an official Kwame Brown thread?
Does he really have to be in every thread ... like the PG thread, the JWill, thread, the Ricky Davis thread, and so on?
WTF guys?

Grizz want Beasley, lets have Memphis sign and trade Kwame Brown for BEasy
now THAT is how you build a champion

he did have the great game 6 against the Pistons
and that behind the back pass to Zo for the dunk in game 6 for the Mavs
that's about all I'll remember about his Heat career

Sheer, unadulterated brilliance.

Chris Quinn and Marcus Banks were so much better...im tired of him of bringing up the ball and pulling up for 3 like hes Tim Hardaway..and also those fastbreaks were he pulls up for 3..not only does he miss, the ball usually bounces and goes out of bounds..ughh

I still remember that 4-on-1 fast break where he pulled up for a three and it missed and bounced out of bounds.
I wouldn't want him starting, and Quinn makes a better backup PG while Banks makes a better multi-purpose PG. Where's the room for him if he's not fit for starting anymore?

I rather let Banks-Chalmers-Quinn man the PG spot then bring back JWill for another year of chucking and no defense.....
I will forever thank him for his efforts in 06 during our Championship run but its time to move on...

No to jason williams. Jason williams could be the last pg on this earth and i still dont want him, id rather play 4 on 5 the bring him back. I still remmber the 4 on 1 fast break, where he can throw 2 alleys or drive and kick but he stops and shots the 3 ball(of course its a brick and it goes out of bounds). Banks,Quin,Pat riley,B.Ahern over Jason williams.
I think i just threw up in my mouth, thinking about williams on the team.

J-Will is better than Banks but his attitude is a concern.
I hope Miami can sign and trade him.

Some of you guys are acting like our PG situation is settled with a Banks-Chalmers-Quinn rotation, when in fact, it's the opposite. Before we drafted Chalmers, we were all dead set on finding ourselves a PG - don't think that has changed much. I really like Chalmers for this team and think he is a perfect fit next to Wade with his shooting ability and tenacious defense, but he is going to need some seasoning and we are not going to just hand him the starting job.
Meanwhile, Banks is our greatest financial liability and if anybody think Riley won't trade him for nearly any contract expiring by 2010 they are mistaken. Besides that, he was fairly inconsistent in his limited minutes on the court this season, he can really pressure the ball and has a nice shot when its on, but he is not a starting caliber PG either. Just because Riley went on air to declare the job Banks' to lose DOES NOT mean that it actually is. And while much can be said about the shooting and decision making of Chris Quinn, he is probably the least athletic NBA PG in the game, if not the least athletic player in the league, and is destined to be a career backup.
Maybe J-Will is not the answer as a starting PG, but I fully expect us to sign someone else to come in and compete for the starting job...

I'm not too concerned about Marcus Banks's contract. If the Heat can get a taker for it, that's fine, but if not, they will buy out his contract before 2010. The three million (assuming Banks will be able to sign for the minimum somewhere else) will pale in comparison to the revenue of a full house if the Heat is able to field a contender.
Go Heat!!!

^Good post.
But yea, just no to J-Will. Been there done that. Too much of liability on defense. And his health always comes up as an issue. We need live bodies, he isn't that.

If we had a young PG who can start while developing then it would make sense to bring JWill back to mentor off the bench but our PG situation is far from that. We just don't have a qulity starting PG and JWill doesn't solve that issue either.
I think we need a player like Duhon or Telfair who have starting experience and would take a short contract until we see who steps up from the group of Banks, Chalmers and Quinn or we get a starting PG somewhere else (Lowry?). This team needs competition at the spot and from someone to raise above from that pool of talent. JWill makes no sense here because he is always injured.

Even if we buy Banks out (I would doubt it), the negotiated sum is prorated over remaining years, so some money would still be on books in 2010. I think he'll be part of some trade at some point. But I hope we get to see what he can do after a training camp in our system. We were high on him at one point last summer.

I say we give Banks a chance, I think if he trains hard this offseason he can develop into a very good starting point guard in this league. Him and Chalmers do exactly what we need in a point guard and so does Quinn to an extent, bringing back J-Will would just be a liability, as he would just eat up minutes that need to be shared between these guys. Also, theres probably going to be times when DWade is at the 1 spot and Davis or whoevers at the 2 so there won't be enough minutes to go around to all 4 of them if we bring J-Will back.
