HEAT Envision Beasley-Boozer Frontcourt?

From the Miami Herald
Dorell Wright's guaranteed two-year deal left the Heat with a little more than $50 million in 2009-10 contracts for 10 players (only Daequan Cook's $1.3 million is at Miami's option). That means -- unless multiyear deals are dumped -- the Heat likely will have a little more than $11 million next summer (if Shawn Marion isn't re-signed) to pursue a free agent such as Carlos Boozer. (The Heat has told people it can see Michael Beasley playing small forward eventually, allowing a pairing with Boozer.) Miami has $32 million committed for 2010-11.
Is the reason Riley offered Marion a small amount of money for him not to accept so the Heat can have a cap space in 2010?

If this rumors is true, looks like we will not see a Marion trade that screw the cap space to sign Boozer next year. Or maybe the Heat are waiting what move the Jazz will do with Boozer this summer, if he's going to sign an extension or not.

Whatever it is, I like what the future of the Heat because of the flexibility in their payroll. Problem is, it might affect the coming season in terms of competing because of the lack of moves.

offensively we would be a juggernaut but our defense at the 3/4 would be suspect...as long as chalmers and joel develop and play monster d though i would be down

we should trade haslem and cook for darko and lowry

joel/darko
boozer
beasley/j. jones
wade/d wright
chalmers/lowry/banks

talented team

If defense is in the conversation at all, Haslem needs to be out of any trade conversations as well.

I just can't see a guy like Boozer being as effective as his money entails on this team. To be honest I've always seen him as a good player but he's overrated. I'd prefer we go after Bosh or Amare in 2010 if we were are going to try to move Beasley to the SF spot. I think he'd created more match up problems at the PF spot anyway though.

That would be the worst defensive team of all time, i'll pass on Boozer .. the guy has not impressed me every time i've seen him play.

If we get Boozer on that 11mil range how much cap room we would have in the 2010 off-season?

I'm not that crazy about Boozer at all. He is overrated! Having Beasly at SF and Boozer at PF is not really a defensive stopper there and makes us a slower team. I still think Beasly is going to be our PF. Beasly at SF is just something they are trying out right now. Also i really don't understand getting Boozer with our stacked Forward Position. Center anyone? Point guard maybe?

next yrs fa class sucks really badly...boozer and marion and artest and odom are the only noteworthys...unless you want to wait til 2010 (and make no splash in 2009) well likely choose b/w marion and boozer next to beasley

slow it down teams with a legit post option win
examples: Boston, us in 06, San Antonio, Lakers...

And who would we have a center?

Worst defensive front court ever, I absolutely hate this idea. Boozer is the most overrated player in the league.

Count me in the anti-Boozer camp. Marion should a great compliment in the front court for Beasley due to his defensive versatility, while Boozer is the opposite of that. Maybe we can develop Beasley as a post presence, or use the money for a post Center (or a PG/re-sign Marion), but I wouldn't want to limit our 2010 cap room by signing a PF who is similar to Beasley.

Trust me i know we need a ligit post option. I just think we shouldn't get Boozer. Beasley has the ability be even better then Boozer. We have more needs on this team then getting another Forward.

The Boozer rumors aren't about who the Heat want. Its about who the Heat can get. Would you rather lose the chance at Boozer for a shot next year at Bosh, then have him resign with the Raptors and have to settle for Andrei Kirilenko?

That's like trading Wade for the #1. Ya, its a good deal if Wade's career ends in injury and Rose becomes Chris Paul. But what is the likelihood of that happening? You're taking a lot of risk and odds are it'll end in failure.

im starting to think that we will give marion a 3 yr extension at 12 mil per...w/ increases so thats like 3 yrs 40 mil...that way, marion's deal expires in 2012...the same year as beasley...that way, we can extend beasley the same yr marion's new deal is up

i say we sign magloire, resign marion to 3 yr deal, and in 2010 grab the best available center

if need be, trade haslem for a pg during the season
