i actually am not confident in the move at all. if were just holding a place for rask, why not just do it with thomas and toivonen. i mean the goaltending wasnt great last season. thats true. but doesnt anyone else think it has a lot to do with a porous soft defense, and forwards who cant chedk for their lives? now i know kobasew will be edgy when he settles in, but i had been waiting for kalus and milan lucic to take spots on our other lines. well, i guess fernandez will stop another shot or two, but with all the shots hell see... that might be it.

these guys could really rip another AHL team though...

Well, one step the Bruins needed to take was getting a legit goalie. And they did that. Cross off getting a good head coach and goalie off the list. Now we need just two more pieces. A defensman and a 40 goal scorer.

i knew fernandez more by name than anything, havent watched him much. i was led to believe he wasnt much of an upfrade. how would you rate him, anyone whos really seen him?

If PC just sits on his thumbs the rest of the offseason, then I am with you when saying, I dont get why not just go with thomas and toivenen.

When PC made this move I expected something else. Alot actually. Because making a move for a good goalie usually means you are getting ready to contend. It would be stupid to pay a goalie 4 + million a year, and give up a good prospect, just to bridge the gap to the future goalie. Chiarelli should have gotten a good defender, top 4 dman. Such as hamerlik, or Preissing. He didnt, and cannot now. Because all that is out there is, Souray. And he has alot of better options then boston.

With all that being said, there is still hope that chia can turn it around. Rumor has it, that Guerin wants to be here. As well as Murray being shopped to edmonton.

Well, he's better than Thomas. Fernandez had a Goals Against Average of 2.55, Thomas's was something like 3.20 Fernandez isn't an elite tier goalie, but he's an upgrade, so i am happy with the trade.

Guerin just signed with the islanders, damn.

I am starting to agree with TCT, why make this trade, and spend the money, if he is just going to bridge tn the gap. With no signing on the defensive side, AND offensive side, this team will still not contend.

Hopefully chia has some trades up his sleeve.

A goalie is only as good as the defense that plays in front of him, unless your Martin Brodeur, remeber that. Get one more defensemen, a bigtimer PC
