An Iowa State loss strengthens UW's chances of a 2-seed and their chances of playing in Milwaukee. But any chance they have of getting a 1 seed probably hinges on Houston taking another couple of losses, which is possible but unlikely given that they've only lost 1 game since November.

I probably punt on the 1 so root for Houston. Chances are to get the 1 we'd have to win out and at least get to the B1G title game, likely needing to win it (though don't they say they've already seeded before that game anyway). They probably get a 1 regardless if they somehow pull all that out.

Big Mich/MSU game Friday night too. Think we have to root for MSU to get the chance at the B1G title. But similar discussion could be had about just pushing back another team in the standings to make sure we stay top 4 seed in B1G tourney to get the bye. We play MSU next week though so control that a bit anyway

I don't think the championship game will matter much, but winning out and advancing to the championship game that's definitely the path and even then I you have to hope for some help along the way. But Iowa State winning this weekend definitely helps that path in some small way.

Its an easy choice to root for MSU. Michigan is the only team that stands in Wisconsin's way of controlling its own destiny to win the Big Ten and be the 1 seed for the tournament.

Big 10 tournament double bye is all but locked up. A loss in any game left other than MSU would be very surprising.

That's awfully optimistic of you. I agree, this team has a (almost) 2013-2015 feel to it, but Oregon is decent, Minnesota has new life and is on the road...and for the other games that we should easily win...lest we forget the final Nebraska game in 2022...

But to a greater point, I've stated it on here before - I am trying not to let this be stuck in my mind all year, but given the past few years, I am afraid and vulnerable right now that I'll probably be buying tickets and making the trip to Fiserv in a month and watching either some mid-major shoot 60% from 3 or we face 7-seed Kansas in round 2 and they decide to show up.

So we win by 10 instead of 25?

Look, Max Klesmit is the current standard-bearer for Fox River Valley vibes - Outagamie County! The OC - on Fox! - but for me the tops is still Brevin Pritzel characterizing his marksmanship with the declaration "I can shoot the piss out of the ball." Wispy mustaches and distance shooting, as iconic a combination as Rick and Len.imo

They're all 78%+ on KenPom. Those numbers constitute "very surprising" to me at least.

Also, Oregon stinks. They're 2-4 East of the Rockies with a loss at Minnesota (and a win at Ohio St). They had lost 5 in a row before "righting the ship" with 2 wins at home over Northwestern and Rutgers. They also play tonight at Iowa. My long-winded way of saying "very surprising".

@ Minnesota is the most likely "weird" loss to me.

And lastly, this team seems far less vulnerable than other versions to a first round upset because they are an excellent offense that can put up points at every level. I'll be shocked if they don't make the sweet 16 (barring injury of course).
