Yea I'd generally agree and all and I wouldn't look to do that deal unless hand is forced. But, without owning our own pick getting a guy like him for this year and next year isn't the worst. The idea wouldn't be that you could build a contender around him. But, helps you be ok this year/next and hopefully he continues to look good, then you trade him for more picks/assets. Hopefully something starts coming together in the 29/30 type years and beyond

I might prefer Eason to Smith Jr, but he’s hurt. Eason is that ultimate glue guy 3 we’ve all been dying for.

You're seeing exactly why that team went out and got 37-year old KD, and it's because they didn't have faith they could build a legitimate championship caliber offense around any of those guys. Put Sengun on a team where he isn't completely insulated on all sides with elite defenders and shot-makers, and watch all this "he's such a winning player" talk slowly evaporate. The only thing appealing about the Rockets assets is that they could overwhelm you with picks/prospects despite not having that obvious budding franchise guy (we can debate Amen Thompson but I just don't see it).

KP/Rollins/Green/Turner/Sengun - That team is better than last years Rockets ( on paper, with a new coach )

I would be excited to watch that team grow - 4 guys that could space the floor and Sengun - Plus other assets in the trade

Better than a 52-win team on paper? I seriously don't understand what some of you guys have been watching this season. This team is so far away from contending for anything relevant.

Bucks Stay Competitive - Get future Assetts

Don't know if this would make them a top 4/6 team, but would be an entertaining team to watch

Bucks get: Sengun/MPJ/DFS/ 2029 best two 1st rd picks between (Houston will receive the two most favorable of its 2029 1st round pick, Dallas' 2029 1st round pick and Phoenix's 2029 1st round pick)
Nets get: Sheppard/Kuzma/Tate/Control back of their 2027 1st rd pick which Hou has
Rockets get: Giannis/Trent/Anthony

KPJ/Green/MPJ/Tuner/Sengun - Rollins/Portis/Sims -

Sengun is really good and I only think he’s going to get better. I think he eventually becomes passable defensively, like Jokic did.

He’s a bit more tankier version of Pau. Or an effective winning rich man’s version of Sabonis.

Come on guys. Sengun as your big get for Giannis? Are you kidding me? In two weeks, will it be Reed Shepard for Giannis?

What's your rationalization? Sengun is probably the 2/3 best C in the NBA - Depends on how you view Wemby ( C or PF) Only guy better than him is Joker

If I'm going the rebuild route, I'm not concerned with positions. I'm concerned with the highest quality young players i can get, regardless of position.I'll
worry about positions later.

I have a higher standard than most on this board on what would entice me to trade Giannis. First, I want young quality player(s) back. If it's only one player back, then it has to be what i envision as a top ten player. Sengun doesn't fit that standard at all, although he'd be a great additional piece.

If I was assured of a top two pick for 2026, I'd consider lowering my standard, but not by much. I want proven talent. Cunningham, Flagg..

The myth that was built that Jokic is passable defensively really deserves to be academically studied.

Excuse me, he's been #1 or #2 in the league in DBPM basically every season!

Was revisiting my rankings of the teams that I think would/should at least consider trading for Giannis. I forgot how complicated it is to financially figure out a trade with Cleveland. The best I could do was basically something along the lines of:

Milwaukee gets:
Evan Mobley
Terence Mann
Ziaire Williams or Haywood Highsmith
Picks/pick swaps of some sort

Cleveland gets:
Giannis
Ziaire Williams or Haywood Highsmith

Brooklyn gets:
Darius Garland

According to the Spotrac trade machine at least, Cleveland would basically have to cut $22ish million from their cap sheet in a Giannis trade due to the restrictions against aggregating salaries for 2nd apron teams.

I would rather have Sengun than Mobley 10 out of 10 times.

Ron Swanson wrote: But you had it right in your first Rockets proposal, i.e. Jabari Smith is the guy we need to target.

Smith + Thompson + FVV + all the picks they have. If they don't wanna throw in Jabari then they can substitute with Reed + Eason.

I'm fine with Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith plus best of HOU/BKN/PHX 2027 along with the 2029 they own that is the best of HOU/DAL/PHX plus one more 2030 pick.

But I want Jabari Smith along with either Thompson or Sengun.

PP can I respectfully ask what it is about Jabari Smith that has made you such a fan? I like to think I've watched a decent chunk of Rockets games the last 2 years and he just never wow's me.

There isn't a way to include Smith in a trade that makes any sense for the Rockets this year. If you want Smith, you need to wait till the off-season

With Smith, its the what can he be - Guy was the #1 guy on alot of people's board coming out cause he was compared to Bosh

Its like Wiggins all over again - he was the guy with the unknown potential

I understand the upside, but this is year four (still only 22) and his per-36 production is 16/7/2 on 45% shooting. For context, John Henson put up nearly identical per-36 numbers at age 22.

I get it- he could turn out to be the main guy, but i just dont see it in him. He is getting paid for what he will be, a good #2/ excellent #3 option.

It's fun to see the media circling back and saying "you know what, maybe Giannis won't get traded until the summer" as if they ever had any real insight into it. Hope they got their clicks the last couple of weeks. NOW FIRE DOC FREAKING RIVERS.
