You are not just moderator but also respected poster from what I heard. If you think that is it posible that other Bulls fans think that as well? I am Bogut fan but your GM didn't want to trade Deng for Garnet. I don't see any way he trade him for Bogut.
Here's what we know about some trades:
Paxson tried every year to pry Garnett from Minnesota. He was always told that KG is not available. 2 years ago he offered Tyson Chandler, Deng & the the #2 pick in the draft. That offer was refused.
Last off season, Paxson admits he did try to get KG & feels that his offer was better than that of Boston's. However, he cant name the players since all are still on the Bulls.
That certainly does not sound like anyone who REFUSED to trade Deng for KG. The opposite seems closer to the truth.
With Kobe, Paxson said he contacted Mitch Kupcake but was told flat out that Kobe will not be traded. So, no deals were ever discussed. The media went off & created all sorts of trades - including Kobe insisting on playing with Deng.
As for Gasol, Paxson said that Jerry west demanded Deng & "significantly more". West's asking price was so high that a trade was never discussed for more than 5 minutes. Now, Paxson did not say what else was demanded in addition to Deng - again, because those players would still be on Bulls. Paxson sounded like he had no problem in trading just Deng - but he wasnt going to gut his team to get Gasol.
Paxson answers trade questions honestly. He admits trying hard to get KG. He admits interest in Kobe. In fact Bulls did reach an agreement with Kobe before Kobe re-signed with LAL. However, the Bulls didnt have the cap space to sign him outright & LA refused to trade him. So Kobe re-signed with LA
The only deal that the refusal was Paxson's involved Gasol, and the price certainly seems excessive
Recent rumor: There are threads on both Bulls & Cavs Boards about a recent trade offer. Cleve offered Gooden & Hughes for Wallace & Hinrich. Paxson DID turn that one down.
The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.
