Bucks and Clippers may make nice trade partners.

This season is essentially lost for them, it should be lost for us. I think both teams have pieces the other team could use; I just don't know to what degree.

If the Bucks and Clips wanted to deal, they could with a simple swap of 6th men, deal some 2nd level starters, or go huge and trade their high profile stars.

Trade #1

LA Trades:
Quinton Ross
Brevin Knight
2008 #2nd round pick

Milwaukee Trades:
Charlie Villanueva

WHY: I like Ross. He's is only concerned with defense and doesn't particularly care if he scores or not. A free agent after this season, my guess is there will be no shortage of suitors. Knight's got one more year on his deal and I think that's about the amount of time he remains a serviceable NBA player. He could see plenty of time as our #1 PG off the bench.

LA does it because right now they're starting Tim Thomas at PF with Brand out. They could instead be giving Charlie 34 minutes a night to see what kind of player he is.

I've no doubt that we come up short in terms of talent in this deal, but we get some defense and a pass-first guard.

Trade #2

LA Trades:
Cuttino Mobley
Sam Cassell
Aaron Williams
Al Thornton

Milwauke Trades:
Michael Redd
Dan Gadzuric

WHY: This is a deal that requires some speculation on a team I know little about (I'm not talking about the Bucks, har har har). While Maggette is a lock to opt out, the organization has repeatedly said they fully intend to lock him up to a long term deal this summer. It's understandable; he's having one of the best seasons of his career.

But where does that leave Thornton? He was drafted to be their SF of the future and because he's not a 20 or 19 year old project (he's 24), I think he's likely looking for a chance to play 30 MPG next season.

This deal gives the Clips a major nucleus of talent once Brand returns.

Bucks do this for three reasons:

1 - Thornton. He's a scorer and not known to be a major defender, but he's a better option than Simmons or Mason. The fact he's on the first year of his rookie contract is a major enticer. He also worked out for Milwaukee last spring so the Bucks have an idea in terms of what they're getting.

2 - Mobley isn't the scorer Redd is, but he's a better defender, passer and paid more in line with what you would expect your #3 guy to make.

3 - Salary cap relief. Aaron Williams and Cassell are both expiring and could be cut. This deal saves the Bucks about 11 million next year.

I originally was going to post a deal around Brand and Livingston and Redd and picks and Charlie V....but that's a little too ambitious. I think Livingston could be the perfect guard for this team, but with that severe knee injury and the fact that he was so highly regarded coming out of HS, I don't know how LA sees him in their future.

Trade 1 is an awful, awful deal

There is no need for us to trade CV for expiring contracts and a 2nd round pick. He certainly has to have a little higher value than that. If not, we are better off hanging onto him.

I like this deal if we plan on trading mo williams. Knight could be a great PG for us with his veteran savvy and pass first mentality, but this deal wouldn't be worth it if we're only looking for him to play 10-15 minutes a game off the bench.

Quinton Ross could also help us, but he'd only be a short term fix, and I'd be real worried that we'd overpay to keep him.
