TI - MIL/SAC - Goodbye Charlie!

Here's a realistic little deal I could see us making and it works in the checker. Sacramento has a crowded backcourt and could use some youth in its frontcourt as guys like Shareef Abdur-Rahim aren't getting any younger.

Charlie V & Des Mason

for

Francisco Garcia, Kenny Thomas, a 2nd Rd 2008 Pick

We move Garcia into the starting 3 slot and strengthen our defense.

Here's Hollinger on Garcia, who he lists on his "All Sleeper Team":
Francisco Garcia, Kings
Don't look now, but Sacramento may have the deepest perimeter group in basketball. With Garcia, John Salmons and Beno Udrih backing up Ron Artest, Kevin Martin and Mike Bibby, the cupboard suddenly looks awfully full out there.
Garcia isn't getting much attention, but he has more than doubled his scoring average from last season thanks to his increasing confidence in a deadly 3-point stroke. In his third pro season, he is shooting 39.6 percent from downtown and scores 18.7 points per 40 minutes, plus he's a solid defender who has cut down on all the hacking he did last season.

Now that the Kings have all their players back he may see his minutes cut, but if the much-discussed trades of Bibby and/or Artest happen, it won't be for long. While Garcia doesn't have the upside of some other players on this list because he's already 26, his shooting, defense and ballhandling make him a strong complementary player.

Alternatively we could trade CV for Garcia straight up but then we've got the problem of Des/Bobby's salary sitting on the bench.

I'm fine with this. I've been on the CV/Bobby for Garcia/Thomas bandwagon for awhile.....but with one giagantic caveat that Kenny Thomas can still play. I don't know enough about this. He's got a terrible contract and at this point Bobby contributes a lot more.

Strongly, strongly disagree you with you PP.

Why the hell do we want Kenny Thomas?

I'd do CV for Garcia straight up.

There's no point in acquiring Thomas, especially with his financial considerations

I do not understand the Kenny Thomas love by some on this board, Thomas is brutal...he is an undersized scrub, with perhaps a bad contract?

I'm certainly not keen about adding Thomas but I worry that a CV/Garcia deal straight up would mean trouble for either Desmond or Bobby, one of whom would be getting basically very little PT with large contracts. Of course, I'd really be okay with Des not playing much.

He has like 3 years $25 million left on his contract.

Des returning should be interesting.....I was not for resigning him at all. I realize the Bucks have almost no athleticism around the perimeter but Mason likes to shoot for a guy who can't shoot...bad combination.

I like Garcia alot...I'd be willing to go CV and Ivey for Udrich and Garcia.....I'd even exchange Bell for Ivey if I had to.....Garcia can play the 2 and 3.....then perhaps try to deal a SF for a back-up 4......this is all fun, don't think the Bucks will make 1 deal.

The only way I'd take back Kenny Thomas is if they took Dan Gadzuric

CV/Gadz for Garcia/Thomas

Only way I take KT back, he has two more years on his deal.

I really don't care about Dez's feelings or Bobby's feelings. Dez can play both 2/3....Bobby can play 2/3/4 at times.

I doubt Kenny Thomas has much left in the tank, but he could possibly be a backup PF....I guess

How has Francisco Garcia's game translated in the NBA? I watch him a lot in college and was concerned that he would struggle defensively in the NBA, though I thought that he could succeed otherwise. I haven't seen him play yet this year (his "breakout" year). Does anyone know how he has played defensively? Beyond steals and blocks. I mean fundamentals.

I liked Garcia's game a bunch. Don't really want Thomas. I'm also a big Salmon's fan as well.

Gotta include Gadz for Dez to make this work. Then I really like it for both teams. Garcia gives us a solid defender and ballhandler to play the 3. Plus Simmons and Thomas come off the books the same year giving the Bucks some solid expiring contracts moving forward.

CVill gives Sac a younger PF to work with.
"I just wanted to play because I just love the game," Jennings said. "It doesn't matter to me. I get up to play basketball. It's my job. I have to still be a professional and finish the season."

any trades that don't include simmons or Gadz I am against. Gadz needs to go or he needs to start getting playing time. This sitting on the bench eating up our cap is rediculous.
We have to many useless big men on this team.
Voskuul, Ruffin, and Gadz ALL need to go. YI and CV are average that get stuck thinking they can jump shoot all the time. Bogut is our only legit Big man on this team.

Revamp the big men. Revamp the SF. Revamp the coaching philosphy of this team.
