At this point, comparing Villanueva to Tim Thomas is a rather huge insult to Thomas. And if that's not a rather strong indictment of Charlie Villanueva, I don't know what is.
I agree with you. And yet it's amazing how many people want CV to play more minutes, like it's really a coach that's holding him back.

He knows that Yi play more than he should. CV is close to new contract. Yi and promise to Yi are taking millions out of CV's pocket. And what he does? He make public defense for his main rival for minutes who is stilling money from his pocket and from his familly. He may be nice like Jesus but in this world Jesus = victim. I don't want hearless Jesus in my team. I want heary devil.
Those statements are rather delusional.
Well, GAD has mentioned the "promise" a million times but you chose to ignore, thats fine.
But the thing is Yi averaged 27 mins --- if he was promised 20 minutes(see GAD's posts), and he plays more than he should already, why in hell he gets another 7 mins? They didnt promise him for 27mins per game did they?
Yi earned his minutes in preseason and the beginning of the regular season. CV cant get enough minutes because hes lack of effort on defense --- at least Yis been trying.
Yea, Yi is STILLING CV and CV's family's money.

I've posted a few hopeful things about CV in the past. Not saying that CV was playing well, but pointing at the promise and speculating that as some drinkers sober up CV might mature and start playing hard. Truth be told, I see no reason to say that now. He still MAY reform, but probably not here where chaos reigns. I still wouldn't trade him for chump change, but I would trade him for a useful "piece."
In his blog, I didn't read CV as being a victim. I view the blog as a political effort (not an outpouring of truth and candor) and I think CV was calculating that not being jealous of his supplanter would play well with NBA GMs. Plus, it does seem that he likes Yi and probably doesn't get hostile toward competing players (perhaps because he's no competitive firebrand). In fact, he may be a basketball player who at heart doesn't really feed off the competition. A gentle giant.
I don't mean a completely phony political effort - just a positioning of himself to draw some interest.

I'm not sure CV is as smart as I hoped, but he's still interesting. He currently doesn't much resemble a POWER forward, and shows no sign of wanting to be one.
But his "gentleness" is compounded by being on a team without much toughness. And "requiring" that he play team ball is confused by his mates not knowing how to do so themselves.
It's a typical Bucks situation.
Trade him - but not for chump change.

Funny, I was just looking at his profile and one of the first things I noticed was that he shared a birthday (August 24th) with Reggie. My guess is that's probably the biggest reason, or what first drew him to Reggie.

Remember when I made that comparison right after the trade and I was seriously criticized for just the thought that the two players had similarities?europa wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Actually that also amazes me. If CV went out there and gave HALF the effort on defense that he is capable (notice I am only dreaming about HALF) on a consistent basis.. there would be no question that he would have gotten his starting spot back or at least would be playing way more minutes by now.kebzach wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

I also saw it as politicking somewhat.. and was amused by a majority of what was written.unklchuk wrote:I've posted a few hopeful things about CV in the past. One point I forgot to bring up yesterday.. that I haven't yet read anyone refer to was his statements regarding LA and Toronto. CV rather nicely stated that he is more a big city kind of guy, even though he made the PC comments about how he does "like Milwaukee" despite their small town type of atmosphere and setting.. I thought about this and considered whether he could have been one of the guys (or perhaps the main guy) BucksSkin Fan was referring too when he said that there were guys on the team that hated being here? I think most likely he is one of those guys.

Man this is a tough crowd. The Twolves and Sonics were having considerable losing streaks in this first half of the season, and yet their fans seem much more supportive of their players than we have been with the Bucks.
It is unfortunate that CV feels there really is no future for him with the Bucks. Charlie has been playing better all-around this year then I anticipated he would. Sure, He has lapses in concentration and effort during stretches of a game but he's shown he can block, steal, rebound and score. Streaky but at times very impressive.
Yi hasn't been so great that CV should be traded.
Yi is developing and still needs a mentor. The Bucks still need options at the forward spots. Importantly, you give up a talented Big and a decent shooter by trading CV.
That said, if CV has no competition at the 4 spot I wonder if he'd become more complacent and revert to his old habits.
Can't turn back the clock but maybe Yi wasn't the best selection for this team. Sure, he's talented but the Bucks seem to be taking a step back now as they mull over their options and consider possible player trades.
I mean who'd thought we'd be talking about blowing up this team as much and as early as we have been this season.

supportive as they all understand the tanking process

Yi needs some veteran who can teach him how to play, CV isn't the type that he needs
