 I hope you're kidding because the heat are 10 games back of the 8 spot in the East and now have no low post player. They will field a lineup of:
J-Will
Wade
Wright
Marion
Blount

They aren't going to win more than 22 games.

Actually they will field a team of Blount/Haslem/Marion/Wade and JWILL.

With as weak as the East is, they will end up in the playoffs if Marion/Wade stay healthy.

Yeah, forgot about Haslem. But still you can't be serious. They are 10 games out of the playoffs. A team that has won 9 games all year is not going to come back from a 10 game deficit. They would have to win about 15 in a row. Sorry, but I don't see how this is possible.

I don't see this as a trade where Miami now thinks they are back in it this year....they are done for this season.

This to me seems like a deal to either get them cap room next year for a full rebuild around Wade or allow them this summer to fine tune some things depending on what they get in the lotto. With Shaq there was no flexibility and the longer they hung onto him, the lower his value would become.

I also am not sure Marion will make a big difference in Miami as far as them winning more games...again I'm curious to see how he does outside the Phoenix system with Nash....

I don't think there is much of chance that Marion will opt out of a 17 million dollar payday, not with the scarcity of cap space that teams will have this offseason. It seems to me that Shawn will realize that there won't be enough teams with cap space (and interest in his services) to drive up his offers to a number close enough to 17 million to make it worth his while to opt out. Then again, a certain 31 yr old 5'5'' point guard opted out of a 3 million dollar payday last offseason hoping to get a multiyear contract for as much or more than that per year, so I suppose anything can happen (especially when an NBA player starts to heed the advice of his ego).

Excellent points, and I absolutely agree.

I always make this argument anytime someone worries about someone using their ETO or not exercising their player option.

I would take that in a heartbeat.
