OT: Devil May Cry 4

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Tue Feb 5, 2008 11:05 pm

Having owned an Xbox and not a ps2 I never played DMC before, though I always heard good things. I didn't even know DMC 4 was being released on the 360 until I saw it was out today. I checked out the video review on IGN and it looks strikingly similar to my favorite game of all time, Ninja Gaiden.

If there are any DMC fans in here, let me know what you think of the series or what you've heard about this new one. I might go and pick it up tonight.

Too much stuff I want to do tonight...I was going to watch the new flick about Jesse James, play Bio Shock (I'm finally going to sit down and give it a real shot), design a web site that has to get up by tomorrow...but now I'm itching for some fast pace demon-killing.

edit: looks like it won't be out in stores until tomorrow. Makes the decisions for tonight a bit easier.

I downloaded the demo but haven't checked it out yet. I don't even know what it is really. I'll let you know what I think once I play it.

Cool, thanks for the DEMO heads up. I'm looking for something to trade Halo 3 in for.

DMC is a story driven hack and slash series similar to ninety nine nights or ninja gaiden like you said. I would recommend getting the DMC 1 2 and 3 box set for 15 bucks for PS2 and playing, or reading a synopsis of the story so far before playing number 4.

The demo is pretty fun. It plays like god of war, so if you liked god of war, you'll probably like this.

I, personally, think God of War is way more fun.

Not a DMC fan. I recommend downloading the demo to give it a shot first. It got good reviews, and lots of people like it, but I personally don't, and I do like GoW and what I have played of Ninja Gaiden.

I really liked GOW, though I thought it was a rental as opposed to Ninja Gaiden, which I poured hundreds over hours into.

Thanks for the heads up on DMC. I'll probably rent it before buying.

I've been meaning to give bioshock a chance as well. I got hooked on mass effect, and now I'm hooked on COD4 and NBA 2K8. There were a lot of good games made last year.

I just picked it up at Family Video tonight and I'm really feeling it. Much more similar to GoW than Ninja Gaiden in that this one feels a lot like a button masher on the easier mode, though I've heard it gets much more difficult. I might start over on the tougher mode.

I'm just beginning, but the number of attacks in this game and the combos you can pull off seems staggering. Great graphics and amazing voice overs. I think for action fans it's worth a rental at the very least.

i played the first one when it came out for ps2 and me and my buddy played it twice through in a row... anyways, i think the gameplay is very fluid and the attacks and combos are just fun to do. graphics were great, and you got to do fun stuff like double jump in the air, jump off walls, and shoot weapons downward from the air to increase your hangtime. and that was the first one, i rented the other two and experienced pretty much the same quality experience. one of my favorite series, id highly recommend it.
