Trade for JO?

Post#1 » by coolhandluke121 » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:48 pm

Mo/CV/Gadz/Simmons for JO and some warm bodies to conform to roster restrictions?

JO hasn't liked being in Indy for years, plus he's going to miss some more time with knee trouble. The Pacers have wanted to replace Tinsley for a while, and a move like this would get them to the playoffs because they replace someone with an overuse injury who hasn't played for them much and will miss more time with two healthy young players (CV and Mo) who could be productive for them.

Bucks could just acquire JO and sit him the rest of the year, improving their draft position and getting rid of unwanted players with bad contracts. Plus JO expires in 2010, which could be the best fa crop ever. He's also a legit 4/5 so they could find plenty of minutes for JO, Yi, and Bogut, resolving the big man minutes squeeze that's occuring with CV and Yi.

I don't think I need to explain the other reasons why the Bucks might be shopping for a major overhaul like this.

No thanks for me, not a JO guy at all. He is lucky to play 70 games a year at best. I like Indiana as a trading partner but just for me personally I want nothing to do with JO.

You are talking about getting rid of 3 terrible contracts..........that would be unbelievable.

And with JO hurt, we are in full tank mode. Next offseason add a top draft pick and either JO comes back or we trade his expiring if a good deal comes our way.

Its nice getting rid of Simmons and Gadz. I think we could deal better. But who knows. Maybe once JO is dealt he becomes 100% healthy and we win like 5 in a row. Well atleast bet against us at Vegas just to see. lol Who are the extra fillers? Tinsley would make sense. Equals closely to $25 million for swaps. Then we could keep Redd or move him. Maybe keep him. Then if this don't work. Deal him on draft night or in the summer.

It's not really about getting JO. It's about getting rid of some horrible contracts and a surplus young pf while getting something of value in return, even if he is overpaid. I would expect JO to be a valuable piece but I'm not proposing the trade on the premise that he would come in and be the solution to all the Bucks' problems. He is a good defender though and this trade would make the Bucks a lot better if he could stay healthy.

I would do it simply because JO has one year left on his deal. If he works out, we are probably going to make the playoffs.

This would be a bad deal IMO for Yi's development.

I don't think this would happen. Why would Indy take those horrible contracts of ours? I would love it, but I don't think its realistic.
