I tend to agree, although Mo and CV is a pretty good return for a team that already has one superstar and one perennial all-star.

Plus Riley likes experience over youth.

But our owner won't do anything regardless, so does it matter?

Ok, I figured that out more easily than I had thought it would be :)

The Heat convey a 1st round pick to the Wolves as follows:
(lottery protected in 2008, top 10 protected in 2009, top 6 protected in 2010)

So if the Heat end up with a 2008 lottery pick, they will have to give the Wolves their 2009 pick if it is outside the top 10, meaning we'd have a Stepien compliance issue.

That could be solved by working into the trade a conveyance of someone else's 2008 or 2009 draft pick to the Heat

So it is indeed absolutely possible for the Heat to trade us their 2008 lottery pick

I wouldn't think so either, but I'm just going off of two blurbs in Fords chat when I proposed both deals.

Chad Ford wrote:One player to watch is Kirk Hinrich. I'm beginning to hear that they may be open to dealing him ...the biggest problem is that Hinrich is a base year player ... which means he's much more difficult to trade.

and about Miami:

Chad Ford wrote:If they could turn the other expiring contract into a young point guard or center ... they would be very formidable next year. I've even heard they'd be willing to let go of their lottery pick this year for the right deal.

Miami getting Mo takes care of both the shooter and PG issue. He's also a vet, so they don't have to worry about running with a rookie PG next season. Villanueva is nothing to sneeze at either.

As for Chicago, I posted our two Bucks making SI's Anti-Allstar team. Well, here was their starting PG:

G: Kirk Hinrich, Bulls -- While Ben Wallace is a prime suspect in the death of Scott Skiles' coaching tenure in Chicago, Hinrich was the one in the library with the candlestick, helping Colonel Mustard do the deed. Hinrich averaged 10.1 points on 33.1 percent from the field in November, when the Bulls went 3-10 to dig a hole from which they've yet to recover. Though Hinrich has played better lately, he's still shooting only 40.8 percent and a career-low 31 percent from three-point range for the season.

Redd's still Redd. He's not a superstar and he's overpaid, but at least he produces solid numbers and for a team like the Bulls that needs scoring, he could be an asset. They could then use Gordon, who they don't want to overpay, to ship out Wallace.

I know it's out there. But I think those two original deals at least make some sense for all involved.

Plus I'm bored as hell at work.

You know, I always thought Redd was the next Allan Houston. His health issues now make that comparison come even more to light.

I've been listening to Chicago sports talk off and on for about 3 weeks now and they are Killing Hinrich down there and want him gone. I think he can be had, but for what I don't know.

So in essence(granted the ping pong balls haven't been pulled) we're trading Mo, Chucky V and a terrible contract for the # 1 pick in the draft, the Heat's starting PF and an expiring contract? If you ask me, i think we'd have to give up a heck of a lot more than that. Something along the lines of Redd, Chucky V and our 1st rounder(assuming the 8th pick) for Miami's 1st, J-Will, Ricky Davis and Cook.

Yea, no way we could expect to get anything else of value in a deal with Miami. Haslem is the type of guy they want right now after nabbing Marion. If that team locks up another borderline All-Star type, they'll be dangerous for a long time.

WOW, if Ron Walters could turn Mo and CV into a top 5 pick, I just might want him to stick around!

Maybe we could swap 1st rounders with Miami to get this done.

With our luck we'll end up with a lower pick.

I agree completely. They certainly wouldn't trade it to us for Mo/CV. They have the worst record in basketball right now.
