I think a better question (and im sure you have discussed it here, but I haven't seen it): What Jersey does Allen retire? Or with which Jersey would he go into HOF (if he does). Bucks, Sonics, Celtics (if he gets a ring)?

They used to. Even for most of this season.

Redd's stock has really plummeted this season though. Which is interesting because it was at an all-time high coming off the summer with the Olympic team and with his new and improved physique and with the way he was playing defense in the first 11 games of the season.

After that it has started to sink like a rock though.

I imagine europa will find that people around the league are beginning to gradually change their opinion of Redd. That change is happening slower than the genesis of Redd opinions (including my own) on this board though.

One reason why I think the opinions (including my own) of Redd on this board are more negative about Redd than the average opinion of people around the league is that we are fans of the Bucks and care more about the success of the team. We have become jaded with Redd over time and thus we focus more and more on his flaws, looking for these flaws specifically every moment we are watching him.

I think it's because we've all read a lot of posts where you've made the comment but I can't recall of GAD having ever mentioned that. I'm sure he has but I'm also sure you've mentioned it 10X as much. That's just my opinion but if others are doing the same thing there must be a valid reason.

I think Redd is more respected for being a nice guy and a Christian. I have a hard time believing that he'd be left off the all-star team and 3pt contest year after year if he's thought of as one of the best SG in the league. Actions speak louder than words. I also find it odd that if the media thinks he's so great that there isn't this outrage that he wasn't added to the team. It's to the point where he's expected not to make the team so how highly regarded can he be?

I've mentioned it before too, but you are correct that europa mentions it more frequently. I'm not sure that is all that relevant, but it is true.

As for the other stuff you mentioned...
The coaches vote for the all-star reserves.
David Stern chooses the injury replacements for the All-Star game.
Stu Jackson chooses the contestants for the 3 point contest, Dunk contest, and skills challenge.

You've got a fair point on the coaches not voting Redd in as a reserve, but Stern and Stu Jackson not selecting a Milwaukee Bucks player for something is not a good indicator of anything other than their perhaps bias against the Bucks (especially Stu Jackson).

Better question?
I'm not even sure if I understand your question :)

A players jersey (number) gets retired by individual teams. Thus there is no choice to be made. There is no way Ray Allen would have his jersey retired by the Bucks or Sonics. I doubt he will end up getting his number retired by the Celtics either, but that is at least a possibility depending on how his stay with the Celtics go.

For example, if the Celtics win a few championships and Ray Allen plays a critical role, then maybe he will get his number retired by the Celtics, we will see.

As for the Hall of Fame, that is REALLY not a concern. Ray Allen is not a Hall of Fame caliber player, based on his body of work. That isn't a knock on Ray Allen at all either. There are a ton of really, really, good players that never made it into the HOF and never will.

I don't think he will be HOF, but I don't think he is as far off as you suggest. He is a well liked player by the media (they vote for HOF right?), and has a decent resume in several areas at both the college, olympic and nba level.

1) I was thinking that Allen could amass enough stats in 3 pointers.
I'm not saying this is a great source (I don't read it, but just quickly googled it), but it makes the case.

"Ray has dropped 1,920 treys in his career, which is good for second all-time to Reggie Miller (2,560). And with four more good seasons, Ray could catch up to Reggie in that category. Ray

So hypothetically, if he went to the hall (add your conditions that would get him in - championship with celtics for example), what jersey would he pick?

I maintain that he really isn't close to warranting being in the HOF, so if he winds up playing himself into the HOF somehow, it is going to because of a stellar run with the Celtics with multiple championships, so I would say he would choose a Celtics jersey.

That brings up another point though...
I'm not sure how things are set up in the basketball HOF. Maybe there is no jersey choice to be made. I'm not too familiar with it apart from knowing which players and coaches are in the HOF. So maybe there is no jersey choice to be made.
