OT: 18 people shot at Northern Illinois University

As some of you know, I live around Rockford, which is about 45 minutes-1 hour away from NIU. But I was supposed to go to NIU this semester, had done everything but pay my tuition. But my NIU counselor said that I could take all my classes in Rockford and not have to worry about commuting to NIU. There's a chance she may have saved my life.

I have friends down there, got a hold of most of them. My sister graduated there last year. But this one hits so close to home I can hardly take it. I could have been there, maybe should have been there, and that terrifies me.

My sister lives in Dekalb, so although she is not a student there, it makes me feel uneasy, too.

My uncle goes to school there. I was taking a nap at the time, and had no clue what was going on. I wake up to him calling my mom to let her know he's safe. This school shooting **** is getting ridiculous.

Best friend's cousin plays football there. He was pretty shaken up but his cousin was ok.

I guess I'll never understand how anybody could be so selfish. I can't even imagine the torture of knowing that you have a loved one at that university and having to wait for the phone call to let you know they're alright. I feel worse for those who never get that phone call. It's amazing how one person can ruin so many lives.
