I've been saying forever that as a max player, Redd has a responsibility to be a leader. He isn't a vocal leader, he just isn't, and therefore he has a responsibility to be a good leader by example.

Well, considering his defense, he isn't that either.

I can just never see this team being any good with the horrible backcourt defense we have.

Personal glory is more important than winning basketball games to Michael Redd, you can see that when you watch him play.

That is not true. Redd wants to win more than anything. But he is just a rhytm shoter and he has truble to score when he doesn't dribble before shot. In order for him to score and be worthy his contract he has to dribble before shot. It is not because he is selfish. He is just a rhytm shoter who has no choise but to play like that. That's why he is not good fit with inside player like Bogut.

We can all debate about Redd on the court. But he plays hard, doesn't complain and doesn't cause problems in the locker room. I wish the other turds on the team would take on that personality.

What's worse - Redd playing hard on half of the court, or someone who plays hard every other game.

I cannot believe that you give Redd a pass on his defense.

I agree with this. I don't think the Bucks have the personnel to push tempo consistently. They have to be one of the league's worst teams when it comes to athletic ability and while Mo can push the ball up the court, his decision making in transition often leaves a lot to be desired. You don't have to have five gazelles running up and down the court to be a good transition team (the Celtics of the 80s certainly proved that) but if you lack athleticism you need to have smart decision makers with the ball. The Bucks are sorely lacking in the Basketball IQ department. So they aren't athletic and they tend to have a lot of dumb players. That's hardly a good combination for a running team.

This is the most important point in this debate imo. The only other rotation player that has ability in the open floor is or at least was Dez. Dez understands how to operate in the open floor, now if he still has the athleticism to perform is a legitimate question. The bucks haven't really had players that perform well in the open floor since TJ (who made good open floor decisions) and Dez, a few years back. This current team is talented enough to score on the secondary break but imo to be most effective the team needs to at least have the threat of a primary fast break, which this team does not have.....

Agreed. People in this forum can piss and moan about Ford all they want but if you want to be an up-tempo team he's an ideal PG to have for that style of play. He's also very good in a halfcourt game as he's shown in Toronto but the last time the Bucks were really good in the open court was in Ford's rookie season because they had finishers like Dez (and even Tim Thomas and Gadz who both had good athletic ability), good secondary break spot-up shooters like Redd, Thomas, Kukoc and Joe Smith and a PG in Ford who could push tempo, attack the defense and create for his teammates.

Lets get Ford back.
