I'd give Blake Griffin every available backup minute in the front court and see if Yi can play Small Foward for at least five minutes a night.

PP-You said the same thing last year with your "Give Julian Wright from the South side of Chicago" It doesn't matter if a guy from another country or not or not;if he's the best player you have to take him.

I did say that....pre Yi hype and pre us losing the lotto......when I didn't think it possible we'd really be drafting anything other than Oden, Durant, Horford or Conley....

But now that we've got Yi, we've got two guys who are going to get ground to shreds this summer in the Olympics.....maybe injured....and they'll lose the offseason to rest.....basically two guys with split loyalties....

At some point you have to diversify and can't have all international guys who are physically and mentally only here part-time. It's like signing another Mark Bartelstein client.....just say no.

I get your point, but who is in Milwaukee full time besides Dan Gadzuric? "Just saying no" to a player because he is international is like saying no to a player from Duke because he went to Duke. It makes no sense.

I'm not going at the Gadz type secondary players.....but looking at our frontline guys....a guy you would invest a top five pick in.

Sure, I'm not going to turn down a French version of Shaq....but if all things are equal, at some point you've got to diversify. What other team in the NBA has their two best players (I'm counting Yi based on his value) who are also anchors for their respective international teams?

Bogut and Yi aren't just bit players but the stars for their Olympic teams.....

It isn't just a question of living in Milwaukee, but taking the full offseason to rest both mentally and physically and work on your game. That is critical for young guys......

I'm fine with Bogut and Yi, but just don't want to invest a top five pick in another international guy who happens to be a big focal point for his home team where he's got to play internationally every other year at least.

As for it being a distraction, read this Yi quote from MJS this morning....

Yi said that his participation in all-star weekend was just another step in his preparation for this summer's Olympics in China.

"I think that right now I'm just preparing my heart for the Olympics," said Yi. "I'm working and struggling in practice to get my skills up to be ready for the Olympics. It's definitely helping that I'm having this NBA experience."

I don't think we can put all international guys in the same category. I think mentality of a guy from China is very different of one from Italy. There are so many players that get it done for their countries and NBA teams every year that I'm not sure how a case can be made against international players anymore.

Also, Just because a guy is foreign doeen't mean he has to play for his national team. Ilgauskas never plays for Lithuania, Hedo and Okur have both taken summers off and Peja hasnen't played for Serbia for quite a while. The pressure is different for Yi because of China, but I don't it's think smart to pigeonhole a young player into a certain category just because he wasn't born here.

Spurs do pretty well with a couple of international anchors weighing them down. If Duncan was from Italy would it make a difference?

We've already got Bogut and Yi and have enough second agendas/priorities to deal with as it relates to both of those guys.

I think that would have happened regardless of them being an International player or not. I say just pick the best available.

1-Derrick Rose
2-Derrick Rose
3-Derrick Rose

If this team gets blown up and Bogut leaves I wouldn't mind B. Lopez.

M opinion is position is irrelevant.

WHen they pick they should take the best "talent" on the board. The kid looks like he could be a superstar.
The NBA is not the NFL. You don't draft for need. Because of the nature of the NBA it is the great players who drive the best teams.
There are 3 o4 kids in this group that are liekly to be the allstars and maybe one or two who could be superstars.

It is the GMs job to figure out who the Superstars are. Yes some of it luck but a some of it is smart drafting and not settling for a guy.

There is no one on this roster who I would not draft over, that includes Redd.

I like Beasley, Rose and Mayo.
I know Mayo has lost some favor, but he has special ability.
The BUcks lack players who have special ability.
