Yes I would, and I'd be willing to go with your scenario if thats what it took.

I think it would be a tough, but needed move to package our talented, but flawed backcourt to get rid of all that dead weight on the roster.

While next season might not be the most exciting it could lay the groundwork for a successful turn around.

We'd have our frontline in place, then it will be about targeting the "right" guys (bball iq and defense) in the draft and free agency to build a winner.

Yes, if we could dump the entire squad other than Yi and Bogut for expiring contracts I would do that.

How I see it:

Negative value players (contract liability>player production)

Gadzuric
Simmons

Zero value players (contract liability = player production)

Redd
Williams
Bell
CV

If we could make that whole mess go away, and start over with Yi and Bogut as parts A and B, I'd be for it. The first thing that I would do is get a PG that was a good defender and distributor to go with those two guys. After that fill in your wings.

I've been advocating this all year.

-We can't bring big-name FAs in without drastically overpaying
-We suck at trading

Why not build through the draft?

I would do it in a heartbeat and have been hoping that is the direction it goes.

I agree with this assessment 100%.

Nope, because neither Yi nor Bogut has shown that they are worth being built around.

Why the hell would you trade all of our players for expiring deals?

What the hell are we going to do with all that money?

If you think we can land a huge FA, you are wrong. This is Milwaukee. We have NEVER signed a big name FA. Ever.

What is attractive about coming to a team with just Yi and Bogut? What does a proven NBA superstar want in that?

And even if the crazy chance that we do sign an elite talent, they are going to get grossly overpayed, a lot worse than anyone we've ever signed has.

Hell yes I would.

Suck long enough to get a franchise (or near-franchise) PG, and we're pretty much good to go, if Bogut and Yi develop to where they should.

Here's what I'd envision:

Franchise PG
Cuttino Mobley level SG
Shane Battier level SF
Yi with strength, confidence, and more post moves
Bogut with a jumpshot, and more post moves

That's a contender right there. Smart two-way players all around.

Do you think there's a chance that next season, if you're still not close to reaching the playoff, that you'll trade Redd for LaFrentz (expiring), Webster and Blazers' 2009 1st round pick?

Also, what can you tell me about Redd's defense against SF's?

I would have been very willing to trade everyone for expirers. I think it's possible we could have even got a draft pick out of it. Perhaps Orlando would have given all their expiers and a draft pick for Redd and Gadz. Then Mo, Simmons, and CV to Miami for their expirers.

Draft a two-way player, and sign another one. Don't need stars, so a guy like Childress would do.

Yeah thats what I was hoping for...
It would have accelerated our rebuilding very quickly.

Hopefully the bucks are of the mindset that they will let the guys play this season out, and bring in a new gm (with actual power) to blow things up and build around Bogut and Yi.

I dont know much about the draft, but is there a few guys that fit the bill of a high iq true point guard that can distribute the ball?

Let's say we end up with the 6th pick in the draft.

Would Redd and the pick be enough to move up to 2?
