Which 2008 Backcourt is better (Redd/Mo or Ray/Sam)
Now that Sam is with the Celtics, we see the 2001 backcourt reunited.
I used to rip on that backcourt for being selfish and over-rated.....but as I look back, I think that 2001 backcourt was a far better pair than Redd/Mo are today.
A couple questions.
1. Are the 2008 Sam/Ray pairing better than the 2008 Redd/Mo backcourt?
2. To put the talent levels of Sam and Ray in perspective, do any of you think that the Redd/Mo backcourt will be re-united as the starters for a contending team in the 2014-15 season?
Where I'm going with the question is I don't think Redd/Mo are anywhere close to the Ray/Sam combination as it relates to talent and skill. The fact that Ray/Sam are still here seven years later and are very relevant says to me all I need to know. I can't see Redd/Mo being in the same position years from now.

No, not anywhere close.
Ray could score about as well as redd, but in the flow of the offense.
Meanwhile, Cassell was a big pg that could post up the opposition, make smart passes, and score at will.
I think both guys are just craftier players with high basketball iqs. The biggest difference is between mo and cassell. Sam isn't a pass first pg, but he's incredibly smart, picks his spots well, and keeps his team involved.

Yes, but I think they stand a better of chance of winning a championship with Ray and Sam.

Sam Cassell used to be a better player than Mo Williams, but as of right now it isn't even close... Mo Williams is a ton better.
And I think Redd and Ray are on the same level.
Put Redd and Mo on Boston and the Celtics are a ton better... Put Ray and Sam on the Bucks and we are even worse than we already are.

I think its an unfair question unless we put each tandem on both teams, then and now. Then compare. Would that 2001 team be a better team with Redd and Mo instead of Cassell and Ray. Its a tough call but I'd take Redd and Mo on both teams. I still have a bad taste in my mouth when Cassell was on the take to throw that Detroit playoff series. I wonder how much he pocketed from the mafia. Then there's Cassell's tendencies to just jack up shots with no team members in position for rebounds. Sam I Am blew this comparison.

Hmmm...methinks Cassell wasn't the only one to ever do that.
The both do it, but they both hit a lot of 'em.
