I would like to point out I did not start this thread. I created the league for somebody here named bballman or something to that nature. he stated upfront he probably wouldn't be very good, but just wanted to play. I created the league to mirror many other existing yahoo fantasy leagues to be more of a casual / learning league, rather than an all out cutthroat competitive league. I added 2 categories from the standard yahoo setup. I would like to point out MMbbott has excelled in the two categories I added.

I have been a commishioner of other leagues , and have tried to keep the complaints from the players of those leagues to the league boards. obviously, the complaints of this league have gone public to this forum. that was not my intention.

The league was established with a draft date that was about 4 weeks after the league opened. I recall many people saying that was a long wait and they wanted to get started. I posted several notes on our league board with some strategies as to how to compete and win. I believe I also opened it up for suggestions to rules and category changes, and took all inputs under consideration. I advised teams that rules could not be changed after the draft.

Since that time, I have had two team owners that suggested they would like to play in this league again next year, but they would like to see some rule changes such as adding a utility position and limiting the number of adds and drops transactions a team can make. Those were very good suggestions. We can't implement them this year, but we can change how next year's league will be. In the past, as a league commish, I have usually gone along with other people's requests such as adding roster spots, or trade vetos , or rescheduling the draft date etc. if somebody makes a worthwhile suggestion, I have no problem incorporating it. And I believe most players realize when they are making a suggestion, they are thinking how can we improve our league for next year rather than how can i fix the league right now so i can win.

As league commish, i have used my vast allmighty powers just once this year. I took Arenas out of buckaroos' starting lineup and did not replace him. I noticed Buckaroo has three yahoo teams which are all in last place in their respective leagues. I made a decision of whether to adjust Buckaroo's lineups myself or just leave it be. I decided to leave it be. it would be nice if the buckaroos of the world would go somewhere else to play.

all i can say in my defense is that teams that entered my league had over 30 days to review the rules and decide whether to stay or leave. This league filled up in less than 2 days, and there were still more people who wanted to participate.

I recall a post made earlier in the year by Duder. he was pissed because he joined the other real gm league and then realized it was a weekly league and not a daily league. but rather than just continue to whine and complain, or just quit, he got over it , and continues to field a competitive team. duder is the type of guy I'd like to have in my leagues.

I love to play fantasy basketball. And I love playing in the league where I'm in 5th place just as much as the league I'm in first. I can understand players being frustrated when their teams don't win. I'll gladly give advice to anyone who asks. I was once an NBA fantasy guru who gave advice to people in one of those ask the guru fantasy questions forums. I had a 5 star viewer rating. it was fun, but a lot of work answering everybody's questions. once you get a good rating, everybody starts asking you questions. Then I had to start proofing my replies and eliminating all my typos. That was a lot of work.

I get diheartened when people start calling me nuts and a cheater. I take a lot of pride in what I do. I think for the most part, we have a very active and enjoyable league. I may be in first place today, but my lead is only 1/2 game and the current 6th place team could just as easily win the league championship in the play-offs. Our 7th and 8th place teams actually have some pretty good starters. if they added some depth , they could eaily move up. My only regret is that I've already played the buckaroos twice and I don't get the luxury of playing them again down the stretch.

Once again another knucklehead that is not a bad team man! And I lost some guys along the way...

But what the hell are you talking about!? Sometimes you all are about as sharp as rocks...in baksetball talent!

You are a fool if you don't think Ellis, Iguodala, Allen, Ming, or whoever the hell I put out there in a a 5 man lineup dont put up collective numbers worthy of more then the amount of wins I have.

I am in 3 other leagues and every one of them is over .500 including my MoreBango4YiBucks in the realgm league except this one!

And of all of the teams I have I liked this one the best.

Why? Something is in the water is all I go to say. Last year I played in a league and dominated and was cheated, those at Yahoo told me I was from some of you!

They did not calulate or altered the scoring somehow but there was nothing they could do...So, I am watching you all!

I play to win!

QFT

This reminds me a little bit of the time in college when one of my roommates got really angry playing Madden because he claimed his players "weren't paying attention" while mine were. He was sure our N64 was out to get him.

I had MBBOT on ignore but since he retired, changed names, and came back he's no longer on my ignore list apparently. I'm kind of enjoying it.

It's even better to be in this fantasy league. Beating the guru twice was nice, but the messages are priceless.

It started 12/11:
What in the world is this...How am I under .500?
What is the scoring in this league..
No way in hell my team should be this bad!
I got the best or as good a team in this league!
We only play 5 players! Why am I losing with Ray Allen, Yao Ming and TJ Ford!?

Are you cheating!?

After Reed's answer het gets it (12/14):
Re: What in the world is this...How am I under .500?
I see...

But I am sure that I do fill out a lineup 'daily' and not weekly.

I don't get it. I have no idea how a team such as the one I have with Ming and Allen can be 12 games under .500?

What is the scoring system in this league and we should have more then one utility player or at least one 6th man...

The daily lineup is too small with only 5 players. It's a waste.

And hell no I won't release Brand are you kidding me...for obvious reasons.

When others tire in second half he and Ming should do me wonders!!!

Thanks for your reply and inputs.

but a month later.... (1/8 ):
Why Is My Team This Bad? No Way In Hell.
Are you all cheating me? What is the scoring format in this league?

Look at my team and tell me why the hell I am not winning some games!? This is bullcrap.

No way in hell with a team like mine deep at all positions should be where I am in the standings!

Not unless some cheating is going on. This is ridiculous! With a starting 5 that is as good as any of your's in the top 5!

Why is not my record better. You all got good teams, but looking at them and comparing mine to your's you are not THAT GOOD...

Finally he seems to get it....... (1/18 ):
Re: Why Is My Team This Bad? No Way In Hell.
Thanks Reed...interesting. I will look to correct that. Thank you. I thought it was the scoring system because no way in heck a team with the guys I have should be doing so poorly. And yes I do lose by 1 or 2 but it seems to me I always have players to fill every day. I did not think having Ford and Brand would hurt me by stashing them but I guess you are right. I will not release Brand though. I would be a fool. I want hang onto him for the stretch drive. Thanks. I have to remember this post and it being a daily league...

.......but a month later, all is forgotten (2/26):
The Scoring in this League Is Bullsahit!
THERE IS NO WAY THIS TEAM SHOULD BE 15 GAMES UNDER .500! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF SCORING SYSTEM YOU HAVE but this is one of the best of my fantasy teams player wise and yes it is this far under .500. None of you have players who are 'better.' I don't get it....

Fortunately he goes on and on (3/3):
Re: You should not have complained !
No screw that. NO WAY IN HELL A TEAM OF MONTA ELLIS, YAO MING, RAY ALLEN AND MY BENCH SHOULD BE LOSING IN THIS OR ANY LEAGUE!!!
I do not know what kind of system we are running here. The gods did me a favor! I am not in the playoffs anyway with as good a team as any of you! Answer my fricking question! why does a team like mine lose?????????????????? It is BS!

The reactions from Reed and others are great, but I can't post everything.

Does this league use style points for snappy suits? That's the only thing I can think of on how Brand will help him.

It's a real shame that the league's scoring rules are deviously being withheld from MBBOT.

This thread only adds more credence to the MBBOT-as-Freeway theories...

I must apologize. I had secretly hidden the rules of our league so that only 11 of our 12 owners can find them. I hid them secretly in the yahoo league rules settings link. I knew mmbbott would never look there.

i didn't realize until reading that dutchman post above how many previous times mmbbott had cried out for help. As commish, I should have been more attentive to his needs. my bad.

In other leagues when a particular owner gets a little too obnoxious or wordy or complains too much about the evil commish, that evil commish usually uses his commish powers to block the disgruntled owner from further posting. but in this case, and since it's been a very boring month, I refuse to use my commish powers to block mmbot from further posting. I am a champion for free speech. this way, i can read the funnies while i'm doing my daily yahoo fantasy transactions.
