It sounds like his head is in a better place than it used to be, and if he continues to stay out of trouble and say the right things to teams in the run up to the draft it stands to reason someone will be willing to roll the dice on him before we pick.

Who knows what will happen though. Ideally I'd like to get a swingman but if there's a clear BPA at a different position then I understand you can't ignore that. And one nice thing about picking Mayo would be that it might expedite the dismantling of our backcourt.

My top ten Draft choices for the Bucks. Obviously my top 3/4 will be obvious choices

1. Michael Beasley
2. Derrick Rose
3. Eric Gordan
4. Jerryd Bayless
5. DJ Augustine
6. OJ Mayo
7. Russell Westbrook
8. Darren Collison
9. Anthony Randolph
10. Ty Lawson

I'm in the boat that we take a player of need rather than best player available. The 1 and 3 spots are our weakest, and drafting anyone of these guys can help it get stronger. I have a feeling we're going to get a higher pick than 8, however probably not top 3. So your looking at 4-7 spots. Bayless, Gordan, Augustine, Mayo, all have shots to fall in those spots. Lets start praying for a good pick so we can jump start this pile of crap.

+1

The thing I like about Mayo is he has high floor. I can't see him coming to the NBA and just completely stink. He also has all the tools to have a high ceiling as well.

Derrick Rose sounds like a really good PG.
Possibly if we slipped a few more games and got lucky in the lottery we might be in position to draft him. Then LH calls up Riley and deals Mo to Miami for a box of Cubans

I like Mo as a guy and the way he gives effort, but we really need a Rose type of PG to set-up Redd, Bogut , and Yi. IMO

I'm not promoting tanking just yet, but I am growing evermore near to that idea as the Losses mount. Having said that Rose is the only one that would be a nice fit for Milwaukee, and it doesn't look likely we will get him. :(

I retract my previous comment that tanking will not help. Moving up from #8 to #6 will tremendously help our odds of getting Mayo, and though I've never seen him play, everyone seems to think he can play defense. Go Sonics.

This was a post on made on the draft board:

I think this is going to end up being the debate of the draft. I like both players and spent Saturday watching Mayo and Sunday watching Gordon. I still don't know who I like more.

Floyd's system seems to be pretty terrible for Mayo. If he had the freedom to do more I think he'd be in the discussion of national POY. I like defense and he seems to pick up a good amount of steals playing the passing lanes and picking on guys coming over from the weakside. His explosion on the break is pretty nice. He'll get a lot of buckets in transition. I honestly see a better shooting version of Wade out there. I like him that much.

Gordon's been one of my favorites all season. I've seen him play around six or seven times now. He's just such a silky smooth player. I'd like to say he's better off the dribble than Mayo, but I can't really tell because of the difference in systems. I don't think he's got that killer instinct yet and the ability to shoulder a scoring load when crunch time comes. He came close, once, in a game against Wisconsin in which Indiana was down big in the second half. It was as if Gordon said, "OK, just give me the ball and get the hell out of the way". He nearly won the game on his own.

Gun to my head I take Mayo, though it's close.

Never ever ever ever ever draft for need in the NBA. EVER. Makes a team look stupid every time.

Take the best player. Trade the player he will eventually replace. Works every time.

The thing you "need" is talented, dedicated players. Positional needs are superficial.

That said, I do hope the best player available is a pg. :D

Holy **** it only took me like 10 times to get the 1st pick this time! We're drafting Beasley.

yea and we all see what taking the best player available has done for us so far. Its time to draft smart! I'm not saying we take a guy whos projected to be in the late first round because he's a position we need, over a top guy, just saying if it were between a top PG and a top SF, I would assume we take the SF because of Williams. IDK just my feelings on it
