There are a lot of guys with a lot of different things to offer, but none approach what you'd call "perfect." All in all, though, I'd rather have pure basketball players than pure athletes, and Love fits the bill of the former. When you look at Love's all-around game, apart from maybe defensive agility, how much is there that you can't love? He shoots, he rebounds, he passes, he draws a ton of fouls and hits his free throws... the guy is an absolute monster of productivity -- he's arguably better as a freshman than Bogut was as a sophomore, and he plays in a better conference. I have a hard time looking the other way on a guy like him, bad fit or not. Besides, if we trade CV, we'll have minutes for him. We definitely need another rebounder, and he could be the best in college ball. I have him 4th after Beasley, Rose and Mayo.

Maybe I'll regret that, but I'll just chalk it up to being a sucker for guys who produce like crazy on very successful teams.

I disagree. I think here is 1 guy in this draft who could be perfect, at least from the Bucks' perspective. He's definitely FAR from a sure thing, but if Nicolas Batum gains 10 pounds and pans out as a SF you honestly wouldn't be able to find a better fit out of the 2008 draft prospects for this franchise (yes, I realize those may be very big ifs). I can understand why he's easily overlooked if you're seaching for pure basketball players who have proven themselves on successful teams against high-level competition (let's be honest, Batum is raw as hell, hasn't proven himself against top players, and he looks like he's about 14 yrs old), but out of the SF prospects the Bucks have a chance of drafting barring a lucky ping pong ball bounce (the others being Gallinari, Smith, and Randolph) he has BY FAR the highest ceiling. Hell, he might even have the highest ceiling out of anyone in the entire draft.

Batum has a rep for being indifferent and disappearing for long stretches despite having the talent to take over just about every game he's played in so far. So I wouldn't consider him perfect.

Love will definitely struggle in the NBA. If you're 6-8 at the PF position, you had better be pretty athletic to make up for it, and Love is not. He is a great college player because nobody can match his strength inside, but in the NBA he'll be going against players of equal strength and far superior athleticism.

Strength is far from the only reason Love dominates college ball.

Love is definitely smart and skilled, but if you're looking for a more sure fire pick at the power forward position I don't think you can go wrong with Blake Griffin. His game and athleticism will undoubtedly transfer to the next level in my opinion. There have been some rumblings that he will return to Oklahoma for his sophomore season, so we'll see what happens.
