Have you guys heard about how big Metal Gear Solid is gonna be for the PS3??? It's gonna take the entire 50gb space available on the blu-ray disc!!!! I can see why they pulled the plug on the 360 version now because it would take like 8 discs to fit it on there! That's just insane!!!

But the major carries of HD DVD have all but switched to Blu Ray in recent months so it appears Blu Ray has won the battle. So as good as a deal as the HD DVD drive for your 360 sounds it will be a waste in the coming months.

To put it simply would you by a betamax after it was clear vcr had won the war?

If anyone is ever looking for good pricing on TV's or most other electronics (such as a blu ray player) message me. Our pricing is usually 10-15% under best buy and we are certified resalers meaning any warranties with the product are maintained.

Well the more TELLING event to signal HD-DVD was done would be when Toshiba said they were done and no longer producing HD-DVD as a technology, lol... So I'd argue that it doesn't just appear Blu-Ray has won, Toshiba surrendered effectively ending the war.

I saw that... and I think that's crazy. The game must have some incedible textures, audio, mo-cap... everything. This is easily going to be the biggest game (in pure size) ever. I am very excited.

The good news is all they had to sacrifice was keeping both the english and japanese audio tracks on the disc. Now each region just gets one or the other.

They might just include a ton of CGI sequences.

I liked Metal Gear Solid quite a bit, but I thought Sons of Liberty was over the top and convoluted. Too much dialog for a story that basically sucked. I started playing Snake Eater but gave up on that fairly quickly.

Here's hoping GOTP is the real deal.

So I went against my own thinking today and bought and HD-DVD player, but a stand-alone instead of the 360 one, lol... Actually, I bought it for my brother because he just bought a 65" Toshiba 1080P DLP and he handed me a Memorex DVD player which looked horrendous on that TV!!! I couldn't let him live with that so I picked up a Toshiba HD-A3 (1st Gen. I think?) for $50 and it does a damn fine job upconverting for him...

I also heard a rumor of system price drops coming soon, so that could be interesting...

Xbox 360 already dropped in the UK... that should be hitting the US sooner than later.
