We trade Mo Williams and our 1st round pick for Blount and Miami's 1st pick providing that we do not get the 1st pick and Miami does. Report states that Riley is scouting Beasley, but he would consider trading the pick. Is Beasley worth it?

I know. They tried to get Mo last summer, so I really think they liked him. Would they rather risk taking Rose who is a bit of an unknown or take Mo is a veteran PG? I would do your trade also.LUKE23 wrote:If Miami gets 1 or 2, highly unlikely they would swap with us just to land Mo.
Would they want Redd? Do they want to start Wade at PG?
I was thinking something along the lines of Redd/CV for Miami's first and a filler.

If Marion were to opt out, we could send out more salary than we take back, which would open up all sorts of trade possibilities. Remember that it is much more likely that they will have the #2 or 3 overall than the #1. Even with Marion there, we should be able to offer something like:
Basically swaps $11 million a year of bad contracts with $11 million a year of good contracts, and leaves the Heat with:
Mo/2nd rounder
Wade/Wright
Marion/Wright
Haslem/Villanueva
MLE/2nd rounder
Miami sends:
#2 or #3 overall pick
Marcus Banks ($4 million a year x 3 years)
Mark Blount ($7 million a year x 2 years)
Milwaukee sends:
Mo Williams ($8 million a year x 5 years)
Charlie Villanueva ($3.5 million x 1 year)
2008 and 2009 2nd rounders

Mo/2nd rounder
Wade/Wright
Marion/Wright
Haslem/Villanueva
MLE/2nd rounder

They don't really have the contracts to send back for Redd, unless Haslem is one of them. At that point, doesn't it start to look like a bad deal for them?LUKE23 wrote:I was thinking something along the lines of Redd/CV for Miami's first and a filler.
If Marion opts out, we can send Redd without needing to take back Haslem, but is acquiring Redd better for them than just using their cap space to sign someone like Arenas, Brand, Childress, etc, and keeping their draft pick? They would have to think that he's the ideal complement to Wade.

You're probably right. Redd is probably a solid fit for them if Marion stays, but in that scenario they are paying three guys their entire payroll essentially.
If we want Miami's pick we'd likely have to include ours, and I will stand by the position that it's not worth it for us to trade for the pick unless it's top 2, and if it is top 2 Miami won't trade it anyway.

sorry guys, i posted this trade (essentially) a couple weeks ago on the trade board and it got shot down by the heat fans.

of course i suggested this so we could get rose, not beasley. but i can't fault the heat fans for nixing it.

I think if you trade the pick and mo, you might need to get mayo/gordon/rose but if you trade mo you go with beasley/mayo. I believe mike is the better player but he's also more expendable. Mo isn't the ideal point guard for a team where most of the other players would be scoring. but could he make the changes needed to his game if the team were to adapt a new philosophy without redd?
