Best move Kohl made this season without a doubt was shooting down the Randolph trade. Of course, it was a slam-dunk decision that wasn't hard to make but he still deserves plenty of credit for it.

It sounds as if Zeke is still trying to sell Kohl on a Randolph trade.

He might figure if he can sell that sack of s**t onto the Bucks that'll impress Walsh and he'll get to keep his job.

Dumping bell would have cleared a path for Sessions to get more playing time. it would also have allowed Yi and CV to try their skills at SF.

The problem wit h randolph is not randolph. it's the coach's who don't know how to control him or utilize his talents. it's bee n proven that bad boys when placed on good teams with proper coaching can become useful.
Even Larry Walker was useful for a year in Miami.

Which is where continually hiring these inexperienced/crappy coaches hurts us. We cant afford to take chances on guys who are volatile but are worth the risk if you have a coach guys respect. Yes we took a chance on Ruben, but that probably only further diminishes the chance of taking a chance on a guy in the future.

Though sometimes even with coaches guys respect that can still blow up in your face. I mean it also helps to have a veteran that can help steer the younger guys in the right direction too. Ignoring his knick disaster, Larry Brown was a guy that could get those type of volatile guys to play. (Yeah he had some problems with style of play with AI, but they were able to work that out, whereas with a lesser coach maybe AI issues an ultimatum and demands a trade or the coach be fired). He also got the best out of Rasheed in Detroit. George Karl failed with Anthony Mason, but theres more to that. Mason was old and seemingly didnt have any character regardless, so theres not a lot you can do with a guy like that. Pat Riley did but hes on a whole different level than George Karl and not only that, but he coached Mason early in his career and showed him first hand that he could win.
Obviously its impossible to get a Pat Riley or a Phil Jackson or a Greg Popovich. However, guys like Larry K are some of the least respected coaches by players in the league for many reasons, and its not like that should have surprised anyone, (Even Kohl's Momes). Porter had that respect going somewhat because of his accomplished career and had the reputation. Obviously he could have been helped by having more experience though.
Another thing, as i was saying, is look at the Vet leaders those coaches had too, Phil (Jordan and Pippen, which is why bringing in Dennis Rodman worked a lot better) (Also had Shaq and some other vets in LA which allowed him to get Isaiah freakin Rider a ring, you look at the guy and would figure with all his **** it would be impossible to get him to "behave" long enough for that), Popovich (Had David Robinson, Terry Porter and to a lesser extent at that point Tim Duncan, which is why Stephen Jackson was just a good player there and not a nutjob), Riley (Had Ewing in NY and then Zo in Miami which helped with Mason), you can probably throw Jeff Van Gundy in there as well, He also had Ewing in NY, and the respect from learning from Riley and being his top guy, which helped with getting the most out of Spree).
Those are the two things you need and we have neither, which really screws us. A Vet leader who has actually done something AND been sort of a star at least. Plus a Coach who commands respect from his players and can get guys to play hard for him.
Thats why George Karl is able to call out stars like Melo publicly and not get ruined or fired because of it. Because guys listen to him.
Being good at X's and O's wont help if you dont get the respect and hard work from your players, just ask Terry Stotts.

Zeke, the same guy who said he would have taken Channing Frye with the #1 pick overall...over Bogut/Chris Paul/Deron Williams/Andrew Bynum...........

The same Zeke who then traded Frye for Randolph, then tried to trade Randolph for CV and two scrubs (Gadz/Simmons) with high salaries even though he drafted Frye over CV?

This makes me believe even more we did the right thing in staying away from Zach.

If we had made the mistake of trading for Randolph, Bogut would have never seen the ball again. The few times he did, Zach would've tried gunning him down right on the court.
