Toughness...

Post#1 » by heynow » Fri Apr 4, 2008 1:45 pm

I will avoid proposing a trade so that the names of the players doesn't obscure the point.

The Bucks are soft. They have been soft since trading Magloire and Ford.
Despite his stature TJ Ford is a tough kid with a nasty streak and he didn't back down from anyone or challenge. Bogut has a bit of nasty in him but one guy isn't enough.

Others can debate his skills but his toughness his rookie season helped this franchise a great deal and having a coach who respected it in Porter was as also a plus.

The type of player or players this team are guys like ;

Caron Butler with the Wizards. I think he may be the most underrated player in the Association. If he were the Bucks SF he would have an enormous impact not just at the skill level but also in terms of how this ream attacks.

I would trade any combination of players from the Bucks present roster (except Bogut) for Caron Butler.

Bobby was a pretty rugged player with the Clippers and I could easily see the Bucks trading Mo for Haslem this summer.

Mason is one of the feistiest players in the league, I don't see how you forgot him. Sessions, apparently a strong defender, could be the starting pg next year instead of Mo, and Bell is a fighter from the rough and tumble big ten. He can really get in his guy's grill.

This summer coach K of the Olympic team made a point of saying Redd was tougher than he gets credit for and a lot better on defense. He has shown a willingness to drive to the rim and draw contact in the past.

The guys you need to be looking at are Mo, CV, and Yi. Those are the weak links, and it only takes a few to make a team look soft. Also, a lot of the guys who look soft now would probably play a lot harder if they had a chance to make the playoffs.

Michael Redd lacks toughness as well.

You have been watching the Bucks play.
Does this team demonstrate either physical or mental toughness over a season.
What does your eyes tell you. No offense to coach K.
