Weekly Lotto Standings (April 5, 2008)

Post#1 » by paulpressey25 » Sat Apr 5, 2008 3:04 pm

ESPN Standings in reverse order:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/standings ... asontype=2

5. New York 20-56
6. LAC 23-53
7. Milwaukee 26-49
8. Charlotte 29-47
9. Chicago 30-45

With eight games left, the Clippers will be hard to catch. Charlotte only 2.5 games back from us.

If we remain in the #7 seed, our chances are 4.3% at getting the #1 overall.

The statisticians can weigh in, but I think we have about a 14% chance at getting a top three pick. (i.e. Beasley or Mayo possibly)

We are going to be 7th, no matter if we lose or win in the final 7 games (unless we go 6-1, them maybe we would be 8th, but I doubt it is going to happen). I say: if we don't get a top 3 pick, trade it, because we don't need another work in progress, but proven and experienced players, and a good coaching staff.

That is some good research.....so basically we have about a 1/10 shot of going up or a 1/10 shot of going down. Most likely we'll pick....seventh.

Our favorite unknown, Danillo Gallinari will be there at 7. Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon will also probably be there.

I'd like Blake Griffin on this squad to make a three man rotation of Bogut, Yi and Griffin up front.

According to DX Griffin's leaning toward staying in school now that Capel's locked up.

Only my first of the year, but here would be my mock:

1 - Miami - Michael Beasley - Inside scorer to pair with Wade on the perimeter
2 - Seattle - Derrick Rose - Obvious pick
3 - Minnesota - Jerryd Bayless - Another team desperate for a PG
4 - Memphis - Brook Lopez - Was tempted to go with Mayo but they need a C in the worst way and are already stacked on the wing
5 - NY - OJ Mayo - I'm not sure if he's Walsh's guy to start the rebuilding process. I have hunch Love could go here instead.
6 - LAC - Eric Gordon - I think he impresses in workouts
7 - MIL - DJ Augustin - I'd be horrified with this pick, but I just have a feeling this is the way it'll go.

DB...I agree with your picks with the exception of Rose/Beasley....I think Rose goes #1 and Beasley #2.

Chad Ford has them going this way as of now (I think this old)

1. Beasley
2. Rose
3. Lopez
4. Mayo
5. Bayless
6. Randolph
7. Gordon
8. Griffin
9. Love
10. Jordan
11. Augustin
12. Westbrook
13. Buddinger
14. Gallinari

Ugh. You might not mean that Gordon would be coming to us but I don't want another undersized shooter. It's sad how excited I was(in comparison to everything else regarding the Bucks) about at least another lottery pick in town. In the top realm only Beasley, Rose, Mayo, Bayless, and maybe Brooke Lopez do it for me...after that, I would almost rather trade the pick.

I really hope we don't end up with Gordon. He is an offense only player, is undersized, and has no playmaking skills at all. He also gets mentally frustrated very easily. I think of all the guys in the top 10, he's probably the worst fit for our roster, even if he is probably in the 6-7 range for best player available.

I was big on Gordon earlier in the year, but Mayo and Westbrook overtook him in my eyes.

Still, his issues stem from being a bit raw and inexperienced. If we ended up with him there's no doubt that Redd would have to be moved at some point, because they essentially serve the same purpose.

That list is just Chad Ford's from a week ago, and I don't think he's neccesarily fine tuned their lotto machine yet based on which team is picking and what specific guy that team might take. He usually gets around to that around May 1. So Gordon is a generic #7 pick in the machine right now.

I ran the lotto machine 5 times and we ended up 7.7.7.7.8.

It is a damn shame we got jobbed so badly last year.....hard to believe we finished with the third worst record in a year with 3 monster top picks and yet picked 6th.

Just like I did not want the Bucks to draft Corey Brewer in '07, Augustin is leading my do not draft list in '08. Good mock, though.

I am really pulling for us to take Anthony Randolph. He is what this team needs going forward and has tremendous potential.
