Getting real - part deux

I think there's two ways to look at getting rid of Redd:

option 1) get expirings
option 2) take back salary but get better talent and/or a good draft pick

I don't want a bunch of bloated contracts like we have now. But at the same time, I think the reality of landing premium free agents in Milwaukee is a joke.

I think the other thread is a good examination into option 1. Cleveland would love to land Redd. I think the most attractive team that fits the option 2 mold is Chicago. It's been discussed here before I know. But Hughes, Tyrus Thomas and their first for Redd is an interesting deal. Hughes is a defensive improvement over Redd while being a definite offensive downgrade. Thomas is disappointing but has unreal potential and would be a great complement to Yi's game. Obviously the pick is what I'm after most. I think the best way to rebuild a team is via lottery picks. Chicago is picking in the 9 range right now. That would give the Bucks 2 picks among guys like Eric Gordon, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, etc.

I like ShowtimeSam's thread and thought I could feed off it a little and give another option.

I would be down for sending Redd to the bulls in something like a Redd/simmons deal for hughes/nocioni/thomas.

I think I'd prefer going for expiring contracts though.

If the Bucks were to acquire Tyrus Thomas, would you sit Yi?

Tyrus Thomas is long on talent, but short on maturity. His coach has been impressed that he has been showing up on time lately. That he sometimes talks to his teammates.

This year, the Bulls coaches have complained about Thomas:

1. Not running hard when in the game.
2. Not talking to teammates. Being sullen.
3. Showing up late for games and practices.
4. Intentionally blowing off a practice (garnering a suspension).

Do the Bucks sit Yi for this guy?

I think the Bucks need to decide who they want to develop and surround that player with a veteran.
