I've often wondered about game thread posters. We have game thread posters for every game. the brewers have game thread posters both here and at brewerfan. the packers have game thread posters. the threads for each game are always pretty long.
I'm going to assume the real gm poster acts much the same way as the brewerfa n poster and lambeau leap game thread poster acts.
I was just wondering what you guys do and how you do it?
Do you go to the game with your laptop and then make short posts while you're watching the game? Do you ever spill beer on your laptops?
Do you go to some bar with your laptop, and watch the game, and then post your game thread posts?
Do you sit at home with your pay package and watch the game in your couch on high definition with your laptop by your side on the couch?
Do you just do the double screen on your computer, with one side for posting and the other side tuned into to some radio station that has the game?
I can see where a person might watch the game or read a recap of a game and feel the urge to post in the after the game thread. But I have never understood the lifestyle of the person who makes 50 posts in a game thread.
The last thing I would want to do is go to a sporting event with a lap top. But I recall when going to the trop in St pete for a D rays game, they had a section for laptop hookups that was very popular.
No way would I take a lap top to the Buffalo Wild Wings or McDonalds for dinner. but they do have wifi capability for some reason.
In my home, my TV and computer are in different rooms. I don't bring out my laptop while I' m watching a game. my hands are too full of coke, ruffles and pizza to pos t during a game.
Can an avid game thread poster please explain to me how and when and where they do what they do? I'm not trying to dis you for being over zeolous fans. but rather, I' m trying to understand your lifestyle. Who and what is a typical game thread poster? Where do you post from? Why do you feel compelled to post during a game rather than just sit back and enjoy it? why do you post in game threads rather than just using a chat room?
I'm sincere in my request and would ask for some sincere responses.

I have the computer set up right in front of the wall with a TV like 4 feet away. I'll usually watch the game and when something catches my attention about the game I'll post it.
It's much easier to post about baseball since the action is slower so it gives you time to post. Basketball is more up and down so it's more difficult.

Living in Australia, i obviously don't post from the seats of the Bradley Centre, and Bucks coverage is so bad here i don't watch it on TV either. I'm often watching the Bucks game on NBA League Pass on my PC at work, in and around my lunch break, as most game times slot in nicely around lunch time in Australia. I think you'll find that most Australians who post here do the same thing.
I used to just listen to the games via the free Audio League Pass on NBA.com, and visiting the game thread was always a great way to get a better description of what was going on. As listening to a game on the radio leaves too much to the imagination.

Except when you get distracted by shiny objects.

Sports are more fun when they're a social experience. I like having friends over to watch games, but for this it's not an option, since I have no friends in NJ who would consider watching a Bucks game. So game threads can be a simulation of that experience. An amazing play happens and you see that others are enjoying it alongside you.
Also, the game itself usually isn't interesting enough to hold my undivided attention. I oftentimes practice my trumpet with the game on mute, or read annual reports on my laptop while "sort of " watching, or whatever. Game threads can be just another thing to do. That being said, I doubt I posted in half of the game threads over the course of the season.
