I hope Giannis realises soon how much power he has off the court and how much responsibility comes with power.
For me if he ever ends up leaving because the franchise is mismanaged half of it will be on him.

I know many people will say it's not his job but you can't say that you want to be in this organisation for a couple of decades and get paid half a billion and be its biggest asset, and yet somehow stay totally disconnected from any decision making. You become a big part of it by definition. Soon he will be affecting decisions even if he doesn't mean to, just by pouting and looking displeased.

Giannis is a solid guy, I believe in him. He will get it soon.

The cancer here is Jason Kidd.

Until he's gone, this organization will be in turmoil. Even if he doesn't have the title, he runs things. Ownership gave him too much power and he's not worthy of it.

He's a mediocre coach and an even worse evaluator of talent.

Until you cut bait with him, we will just be spinning our wheels. Most of us here recognize that, but unfortunately our stubborn owners still worship at his feet.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

I see the connection here but I just don't by everything Woj is saying. Seems a little more like an opinion-based observation. While I'm sure Giannis is aware of what's going on I just don't think he's heading into the first year of his extension thinking about his next contract and team.

I certainly get what you're saying. However, I'd prefer a real GM making the moves rather than a player sticking his nose in everything ala a LBJ, CP3. So I guess I'd prefer him using his power to get a normal management structure in place with a real GM with power, not so much in picking players he wants to be with and so forth. Everything you hear about him and Kidd is that he loves Kidd, so I really don't see that happening though.

I hope this thread dies soon. Could he leave? SURE! But he's here for the next 4 years at least. Let's enjoy it and take his word that he doesn't want to leave us and wants to bring a championship to Milwaukee. He's said it numerous times, so I'm inclined to believe him.

Agreed. He was more or less speaking in generalities of the nature of the business and used Giannis as an example. Could've used AD, Lillard, Jokic, KAT types just as easily. AD as the closest similarity since their almost as poorly run as MKE.

I can't and1 this enough. My god we finally have a generational talent and were going to spend the next four years miserable and bitching that he might leave. Let's enjoy the ride and see where we are in three years. It's possible some of our guys including Giannis take another step next year and were one of the best teams in the east. Next year we will have a brand new arena, top flight training and practice facility, and one of the best players in the league. Players are going to want to come here to play with Giannis. This is going to sort itself out regardless of how incompetent our owners are and there's also the supermax.

actually i think he didnt really like him that much when he said it (just being polite to an aussie reporter and teammate was the only positive word he could think of) but now he likes him

there was a turning point for delly when he suddenly became one of the best +/- guys on the team after being one of the worst, my theory is things like the ball denial game on paul george or diving on the scorers table got him some respect, either that or it was just getting to the business end of the season and the team just played harder

The turmoil in the front office- really concerns me the most. Zanik was hired specifically to be the next GM.
There was an "agreement" that decisions would be made 2/3 basis for the three owners, 2 of the owners wanted Zanik, one didn't. Guess who that was, and he just happened to be the owner who did have the most power. - This just seems like this is going to end badly within the next few years with the owners splitting.
The rest of the NBA basically LOL'ing at us for passing over Zanik to go within an unknown in house guy.

I posted a link to this article in the Giannis thread a couple weeks ago, but then Presence said Giannis didn't specifically mention the Bucks when talking about wanting to be a champion in the video he watched. If that's true, then the Bucks are misquoting him. :-?

Showing things where Giannis says he loves MKE and plans to stay means nothing. Pretty much every player says the same things, it's just fluff.

That said, we all need to relax on peeing our pants about this right now. It's 3-4 years away. The overall theme of 'we must do better as management' to avoid this is true but to always have it framed as 'to keep Giannis' should be relaxed as it just sounds whiny and worrisome. We just need to do much better in order to fricking win for once and set us up to be real contenders post GSW/LBJ.

Giannis is one of the safest superstars to stay with the team that drafted him. Woj bringing him up in comparison to Hayward leaving a team at a good situation was a pretty bad example.

That being said, that's no excuse for the FO to get complacent...if '21 comes up with the Bucks being in a situation where they have to rebuild, a lot of things might happen.

"I want to be a champion with the Bucks"

There you go everyone. With the Bucks. . He could have said "I want to win a championship". But he specifically said "with the Bucks". He's not going anywhere. Ever. Case closed. ποτέ δεν αφήνει

He also loves going to Oakland Gyros.

Is this the video? We need a translator to tell us exactly what Giannis said.

You used to be able to find me at Axels on Tuesday's for $1doms/$2imports and some foosball action. Back during my college days at UWM, living on Cramer. Gilberts and little Caesars pizza were too dangerously close as well.

Imagine if Henson had those temptations instead of chipotle.

It's okay for Woj to call out our FO and owners, but bringing Giannis into it seemed petty.

Paul George quote in February is below. Going back and finding Giannis saying the right things means nothing. Literally no one is going to say "I like my team/city now but i'm not sure how long I can play here. I want to win titles and if I see a better opportunity I'm going to take it. And I may want warm weather, nightlife, and a larger media market for advertising money."

"I want to be the first to bring a championship to Indiana. So that's still on my mind ... and something I definitely want to achieve in Indiana."
