I wonder if this is like bringing in Damir Makota to be a Bogut buddy without really checking if they liked each other.

Don't quite get the Robin Lopez hate or the argument that he's only on the team because of Brook. So what? It's a cheap deal and he gives us an actual 5 with some size off the bench who can hustle and play defense. We'd have been so much better off in the Toronto series bringing RoLo off the bench to bother Gasol as opposed to matching Giannis or Ersan up on him. We had 0 size or post presence when Brook was on the bench. The small ball lineup works great against certain teams but RoLo fills a need for us at a fair price. From a chemistry stand point it's a great thing as well..The brothers are chasing a ring together. They will push eachother to work harder and come in to this season as prepared as possible.

Just because they're brothers doesnt mean they will push each other... entirely possible their goofball attitudes will compound each other and be a distraction.

I'm torn, it looks like it's either Bucks or Olympiakos for Thanasis, tbh I'd rather have him on the Bucks, he's a benchwarmer at both teams anyways.

e.g. This is clearly nepotism, he has no business close to any competitive team.

If Giannis extends because of Thanasis I would be seriously disappointed in him. That would be as bad as signing with the Mavs because they have Kostas, or the Lakers because they have Kidd, or the Raps because Masai is Nigerian. He doesnt strike me as that kind of malakas.

Korver is literally unplayable on defense. I'd rather try and mine for someone who COULD play playoff minutes for us.

in 1085 minutes with the jazz this season their defensive rating didn't move whether he was on the floor or not. whats your take on that?

measuring individual defense with team defense stats is stupid?

Considering how much money they make, how competitive they are, oh and how they already played together???, they are not going to be a distraction. Not to mention who our coach is....wow.

The things these guys go throughout the year. Its mentally draining. And he is obviously really close to his brother.

So the question, if he really is this bad of a basketball player, why else would they sign him?

Yea I dont really care.

My only concern with the team is losing all those draft picks. When you are the Bucks have to keep bringing in young guys somehow. Luckily Giannis is young but our team has aged quite a bit lately. Hopefully the Brog trade can net us a solid young player in the future.

I agree. I think we should keep filling the end of the bench with young three and d guys.

It's exactly like this. Robin sucks and he's only on the roster because the Bucks wanted to sign Brook. It's not ideal but if the Bucks lock up Giannis long-term, then you can say this was a good signing.

Nah. Even if your subjective perspective is that Robin “sucks”, there’s no disputing that NBA teams have valued his services for a decade. Thanasis couldn’t make the NBA a few years ago and has proven himself a 9th man in the Euroleague. Robin is an NBA player on 29 other teams absent from Brook. Not the case with Thanasis.

Biyombo also had his services valued by NBA teams but it doesn't make him a quality bench option. I'm sure Robin would've found a minimum contract somewhere if not for the Bucks (unlike Thanasis), but the bottom line is it's unlikely he is on the Bucks if not for Brook.

My take on Thanasis is he got robbed a bit by being short compared to his brothers. He's pretty athletic but lacks a bit in the talent dept as well. Biggest NBA skill other than athleticism is his defense. I am not sure he's a terrible basketball player but in the NBA he's certainly at that bottom rung.

I am ok signing him at the end of the bench. All his brothers are high character individuals and would be great teammates.

Kostas would be even better. More so though, I would certainly target Alex. He could be a rotation player for us if he lives up to his brothers hype. He will have good size for sure.

Philly has size. We now match with size with two big, solid, centers. Rolo can knock down a shot from the mid range.

I also agree with you that the brothers will push each other this season.

Is there anything in the CBA that would prevent teams from signing a family member/friend as a way to circumvent the max player salary? I assume nobody here would be happy if the Knicks offered matching max contracts to Giannis and his brother?
