I don’t think Giannis will have to answer questions about the contract all season. At least not with the local beat writers. Maybe some in national interviews. I suppose some on the road. He’ll just do what he did last year and say that he’s not gonna talk about it. The local beat writers, who fear jeopardizing their relationship with Giannis, will oblige and won’t ask him about it either. Maybe a few Lori Nickel type articles to stay in his good graces. I don’t know. I don’t see it being a huge distraction for him or the team. Maybe if it does become a distraction, the tension will be an obstacle they overcome to bring the team closer together and work in the Bucks favor, and they’ll be more prepared to deal with the media circus when they reach the finals.

What's hilarious to me is that a bunch of you are trying to pick apart Horst/Giannis/Lasry for what they're not saying in interviews when the Bucks literally just got blasted square in the dick by the NBA for tampering. Pretty sure you're not going to hear anything from anyone in the organization about this kind of stuff for a good while.

Love how Joe Kernen can barely even speak a sentence about basketball LOL.

Chris Haynes' confidence Giannis will sign the supermax (not just an extension) has me holding out hope despite Lasry keeping his cards close to the chest in that interview at best.

He can get the exact same contract in summer , why rush it ? So this incompetent Org feels '"safe" ?
Anyway I think Giannis not signing maybe benefits the Bucks this season. I mean teams that are planning to sing him will hesitate to do trades mid-season ... for the hope to nail Giannis , which means theoritically they will not improve their roster adding a contract that will make it harder to nail Giannis in case he becomes available in summer

if giannis doesnt sign it very likely means he has his next spot picked out and that assumption would mean his next team already knows more than we do at this point. obviously that can change but the likelihood its back here is virtually nil.

so practically....giannis not signing means the end of his bucks era and that includes this season. not only does it mean our championship window is closed but it means we have to watch this seasons trainwreck in slow motion as a cherry on top of it

its why going all in with our sunk cost is moronic and playing out the season as his farewell tour being the most shortsighted painful memory i might ever have a bucks fan

If the first part is true no team is going to give up big assets to get him. Not the team he's going to, and obviously not some other team. Meaning there's way less of a reason to deal him and give up a chance at a title, even if you think it's lower because he's on the way out. There's no AD package available. And Giannis wants to be an ATG, he's going to go hard 100% regardless of if he knows he's leaving because he realizes how critical every postseason is to his resume.

id agree that whichever players/teams hes communicating with probably doesnt give up much but the rest of the league knows about as much as we know. theres gobs of deals out there imo. gs and brooklyn are the top of my list depending on whether we try to rebuild or keep a 50 win team intact.

as far as giannis playing all out for himself this season.... im sure he will

None of the other teams have a clue what's going on, otherwise we would be getting bombarded with articles and "sources" claiming otherwise. Miami just evaporated their cap room with the Bam extension. AD, PG, and Lebron didn't sign 1+1 deals. Desperate Raptors fans are still doing their little "hur durr Masai is his fraand" schtick, but there continues to be absolutely zero rumors of any substance.

Patience.

Apparently the highest price season ticket holder for the Bucks was with Kidd in Cabo and there is some disruption. Giannis was upset we didn't keep Sweeny and Bud told Giannis no, look our staff has made you a two time MVP. Giannis said no, I mad myself the MVP. Also that he hates the Lasrys for being pompus ****. Basically we're ****. That's all I have.

This is either outright BS or at minimum irrelevant old news. Sweeney left in 2018, him and Kidd are ancient history.

The importance I took out of the video is the multiple times he said “we will know in the next week”, not mentioning anything about after that deadline.

That's Tan Lo.

If I heard that from him directly, I would definitely take him as a credible source. But we are talking 2 + years ago.

Even if all of that is all true. That is ancient history.
