Glad I was not alone. Reception for the trailer, at least amongst DA fans, has been...I think "really bad" would be kind.

Significantly more on-brand. Still worried with the state of Bioware - and the fact that anyone thought a hero-style trailer a la Overwatch was a good idea - but more optimistic now.

Inquisition was my first Dragon Age game and I liked it enough to finish it. But Witcher 3 coming on its heels didn't help it when I look back. After TW3, Zelda, and Elden Ring I feel like most open world RPGs need to step their game up (most haven't), so I'm curious what this new one brings to the table.

Yeah, I remember us talking about it back then. And I certainly agree now in retrospect. DA:I has not aged well IMO.
It was great in the story it told, though, and the characters and lore it built in Thedas. The original DA:O is still the best IMO, and it holds up today too. I wish Bioware hadn't strayed from the CRPG framework and I think they would have had better continuity with it - and BG3 proved that it doesn't have to be a niche genre. But EA gonna EA.
Open minded and I'll probably play it regardless, but I'm expecting to be let down tbh.

It's very pretty. Animation mostly looks nice. Combat they chose to show off did nothing for me, though.

Looks pretty good/I'm reasonably happy. I'd agree the combat is generally uninspiring, but so goes the DA franchise since they moved away from RTWP after Origins. I hope the tone of the game stays dark, not just narrative but visually. That's the best DA to me; it's a grim world rife with problems, so bright colors and cartoonish vibes just don't fit. The gameplay reveal matched my expectations well, so I just hope it stays this way and that the trailer reveal was just a big swing and miss.

Pretty dope. If I liked playing Necromancers I'd be into this for sure.

I planned on playing some Destiny this weekend, but may make time for this instead.
Looks like fun.

Replaying Bloodstained for the first time. Not many games I'd consider perfect, but this might be one of them. Five years old but it's probably the pinnacle of 2D side scrolling Metroidvania.

Re: OT: Video Games/Computers/Gadgets/Gizmos
What build are we rocking in two days?
I'm on NG+ going heavy with bleed.
Level 250, dual Gargoyle's Blood Twinblades +25.
Vigor: 60
Mind: 40
Endurance: 50
Strength: 60
Dex: 30
Intelligence: 10
Faith: 25
Arcane: 60
Will probably go and pick up whatever Larval Tears and Smithing Stones I haven't yet found in this playthrough, which I think is most of them. Maybe do some mindless ruin farming to boost Int in case I pick up a cool weapon that requires it.

I'm kind of excited for the DKC remake, but I know it's going to be a $60 or $70 game and it's going to be forever and a day before it goes on sale. And I just can't justify it. I'm plenty happy replaying the original (which I usually do yearly).
If they remake DKC2 like this, though? Day 1. My GOAT platformer.
